I have no guitars or gear budgeted for 2018.

About this time annually I try to plan what I might need and want for the upcoming year. For example, it's time to replace my mattress and I need some minor landscaping done. I also budget for travel or things like electronics. I know I will buy an Apple HomePod when it's released.
I always have some guitars, amps or other gear on my wish list. The current year I knew I would find a new amp and explore modeling. I did both with a PRRI (a Special Edition with a 12" speaker) and a Helix.
As I look ahead there is nothing on the horizon. I have managed to calm my desire for a Gretsch or a 335 and I have no need of any more acoustics. This will be the first time in years that I don't have any plans or money budgeted for gear. I must be getting old. (I am)

I retired this year and the plan was to thin the herd. I did sell a couple guitars but I ended up buying 6 more. 2018 will be my no gear year for sure.

Yup, no doubt, my gear acquisition days are winding down. I have my "must have" guitars and amps and really getting into recording, but even there, I've got the stuff I need. Still thinking about two very specific pedals and a potential group getting together for acoustic gigging that would require me to get an acoustic amp.

Indeed - the only thing I foresee in 2018 will be a reverb pedal, and a cheap one at that!

only thing I might get would be some kinda frankensteined or partscaster Nasville tele.

But I have a strat I like to play...

I cant see much reason to buy anything new either, unless I get fired from the band I'm in and have to join a new one. thats usually when I buy stuff.... things specifically geared towards a specific band.

    That's *exactly* how I started 2017.

    ...blushes, and shuffles feet...

    That worked out well...

I want one more guitar, a 339 will round out my tones nicely but I'm having trouble making the numbers work out. I could start on my master bath but that's not as much fun. But it would cost less

    Adulting is a challenge sometimes

I only have plans to buy a pedal, other than that nothing. As others have said, I'm to the point where I only buy major things on a need basis.

It's really hard to budget for impulse purchases. I have four electrics which cover all the bases I need covered. That's not to say that I wouldn't buy something new but it would really have to speak to me in a way what I have now doesn't. I don't need another amp. I don't use pedals except a Keeley compressor with my Gretsch. I love my acoustic. There's nothing out there that would improve on it in a meaningful way. Still, I'm always looking. I can't help myself. I can't pass by a shop without stopping in to see the new arrivals. I love to play. It's like having to dance with all the pretty girls. But how many wives does a guy need?

I want a Gretsch. And a J45. And a Les Paul. And a slightly bigger amp. And a Tubescreamer. And a compressor. And a Univibe. Or maybe a Roto-Vibe. And a PA. And some Shure 57's and 58's. And a Big Muff PI.

    That's all.

Çalm your desire for a 335:confused:. That's heresy where I come from. Get out there in 2018 and buy a nice all original '59, preferably blond:lol:
