Apparently the bumps on Keith Richards' knuckles are Heberden's Nodes, a form of osteoarthritis.

I always wanted to be like Keith, ever since I was twelve. The transformation has finally begun...

I have a total of eight nodules like these. I'm certain they weren't there a few months ago.

Now I just need a skull ring.

My index fingers are getting to be that way.

I treat them the old school way;
Denial, rationalization, and cold beers.

😬

I have no plans to treat mine. I'll just keep ignoring them, until I can't.

Now that I think about it, my grandmother (born and raised in Leeds, UK) had the same hands. She never once complained, and she worked constantly either cooking, cleaning, sewing, or knitting. But every once in a while I'd notice her rubbing the joints, so I guess they bothered her.

Whatever happened to an ounce of prevention? Don't keep the stereotype of us males going-- get thee to a doctor.

The only prevention is to not play guitar!

Hey, @Lonn, maybe you have Keef's liver too. It's a trade off: on the down side it's arthritic fingers. On the plus side you get a liver that could detoxify the Cuyahoga river.

I have a couple odd looking knuckles every since high school football.
You just put tape on back then.
Couple of puff outs too. Oh well. I'm not in any dishwashing commercials.

I don’t do alcohol so we’ll never know.

I am fortunate at my age (76) to not have large bumps on finger joints. I thought maybe it's because I keep on playing guitar. It's a bit strange as my grandmother had terrible knuckles and arthritis, and I definitely have osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. But it's more of a pain thing than swelling. I do have a bad mid knuckle on my little finger (fretting hand) from a small break 10 years ago or so. That little finger is a bit crooked.
