My daughter and son in law took us out to dinner this evening, had some great Mexican food then went to a show called Boxcar Music Festival featuring Mo Pitney and Noel and Ben Haggard as the headliners. It was a strange feeling sitting there under the stars watching Merle's son's play a gig without him being there. Norm Hamlet is still playing steel for the Haggards, and is amazing for someone his age, or any age for that matter.

Cool listening to the music, and having the planes drift overhead on their glide path to land at Meadows field with their lights flashing in the darkness. We go out for a few shows now and then, but this is the first time I've been around a bunch of folks who were, shall we say, in their cups in some time. It was an eye opener! When folks are exposed to darkness, open air, music, and alcohol, they do some strange things! Well, not so strange really, since I suppose everyone has done things like that at one time or another. Indications were that some of the ladies there tonight, may be celebrating Mother's day themselves next year. At any rate some of them left just in time to avoid perhaps if not embarrassing themselves at least certainly some of us old geezers!

At any rate, we all had a good time, sadly Alex's walk was a victim of the evening. We failed to take him for the first time in over four months for his evening walk. He was one happy camper when we showed up back home after the event. He's a good boy though, I don't think he'll hold it against us.

sounds like a fun time , glad you had fun , it is interesting to observe the the audiences at these events ,
I saw the Moody Blues with the Vancouver symphony Orchestra before we moved to Kamloops at an outdoor concert it was spectacular as i had never seen them live before, the sun was going down that they were doing "on the threshold of a dream" and "days of the future past" in its entirety fantastic show , no real loonies in the audience for that one made it really Magical.

It was "interesting." Some of the folks in the audience kind of reminded me of the make out scene on the bus in trains, planes, and automobiles. It would seem also that the uncontrollable urge to dance when inebriated is often manifested in those least able to. It was a fun evening though! Technically, we were just across the bridge from Oildale, where most of the behavior I witnessed would have been considered completely normal.

I like outdoorsy concerts. Jackson Browne in Bend was pretty cool that way. Full of geezers, too!

Oh, wait! It wasn't the geezers who were getting randy! It was the young folks who were providing the spring fever entertainment!
