And nobody died. Nobody went deaf. The amp sounded fantastic. The sound guy was happy. Chicks dug it.

    Just thought I'd share.

Geeze, my 12 watts seems so .... minor & diminished. I still get asked to turn down.

Yes, it's a master volume model.

    But...

Opted for this one instead of my 18 watter (which also has a master) because I thought there was a chance volume might be an issue.

Chew on that one for a minute...

Anyhow, it large, and it's heavy, but I gotta say, it's so much tighter and punchier and big sounding than my little amps. Even at low volumes. Big iron and power makes a difference in the overall tone and response of an amp.

I'll keep my little ones, they do a great job of sounding like low watt amps, which is what I want sometimes. But I gotta say, it's really nice to have a big dog back in the herd.

You know, JD, a way different amp here but similar experience.
Last night I set up my old 65W Peavey Classic VTX at a weekly jam that I sit in with the band (I am the only lead picker) - I had been bringing my BJr or my DRRI but decided to try it and if it worked well, I would leave it there as a house amp. Well, my tele sounded just fine with all the power available and the master working with both channels dialed in- I got some compliments on my sound with my switching back and forth from old timey clean C&W to classic R&R. I left it there. (That old Peavey was my main and only amp in my former gigging life- it helped put me through school)

If they knew/cared about what sort of amp you were playing, I submit that they were rather atypical of the type...

It's a scientific fact that when women see a guy playing a hundred watt Marshall (or vice versa, I've experienced this myself seeing a woman doing the same thing) the breeding instinct kicks in.

They may have no idea what a Marshall is, or why 100 watts is significant, all they'll know is that you're an alpha, and nature takes over. There's a pheromone emitted from celestion speaker cones that only comes out when they're driven by a hundred watt Marshall. It is scientifically proven to make attractive members of the opposite sex hot and bothered for the user.

It does not seem to matter whether or not the user is attractive. The magic is in the Marshall.

Admit it, at least once you held that note until it started to feedback so you could bend it and make it cry:D

    Once? Surely you jest.

Actually last night it was only once. It was during the breakdown in Alejandro Escovedo's "Castanets", and it was beautiful...

That's the magic of Alejandro, not just the Marshall - everything he writes is beautiful. I'm jealous you play in a band that drops some Escovedo.
