I’d have no issue if all teams were just called by their city name. But to me it’s not a big thing except with things like the Colts and other teams that moved and kept the same mascot name

Because Chiefs and Braves are terms of respect, unlike the team formerly known as. Oh, they should have just chosen an indecipherable symbol, like Prince!

Chiefs are in because of s****y NFL rules - that’s it.

When I was a kid the Braves mascot was called Chief Noc-a-homa and it was exactly what you’re thinking, total caricature. He came to my elementary school in full headdress. They did finally get rid of him.

But it’s 2022 and my kid’s high school team takes the field through an inflatable teepee so things change slowly.
