I felt a disturbance in the force today, not a smidgeon of the series Law and Order was on.

They're such different shows, though. NCIS is all about the quirky characters. The original L&O was all about plotting and exposition. Other than that one-off episode when a suspect's death sentence was carried out, I can't remember too many character-driven episodes. (Though admittedly, I more or less bailed out during the Jerry Orbach/Dennis Farina transition period.)

Well, from their point of view, just like at Bob's Country Bunker, they have both types of TV shows: hour and half-hour. ;)

True. I'm addicted to the originals, but I find the spin offs irritating. I have the same love/hate relationship with NCIS. That's improved as they've ditched the original actors. It'll be perfect once they get rid of Harmon and Murray.

I loved 'em, but like the originals, over here they didn't do that well - probably too much thinking required for an average audience.
The 'Briscoe' character was played by a guy better known as a comedian and game show presenter. I thought he was a natural in the role.
Which other forums do I know you from; by the way?

Your post brought to mind my intention of getting all seven season of "HOMICIDE : LIFE ON THE STREET" It was critically acclaimed with hardly any viewers What I saw of it was great .
oh a quick question what kind of statement does walking around with a 9 iron make?

I actually like pretty much all eras of L&O. I catch all or portion of an episode every other day or so just scrolling through channels.

I've watched little chunks of it on extremely rare occasions, like when it was on the TV at the Jiffy-Lube waiting room and I had already flipped through all the old Car & Driver and Field & Stream magazines on the table.

But even then, I never paid attention to what was happening on the screen, as I was usually mesmerized knowing that the main female actor in the show (SVU) was Jayne Mansfield's daughter in real life, and had, along with her brother, survived the horrific car crash that killed Mansfield when it slammed into the back of a truck in 1967.

I do not walk about with a nine iron in my hand, I carry a cattle prod, and I'm pretty sure I know what kind of statement that makes! :D

yeah that's a preferable alternative, no need to ruin a #9. besides, when the eyes light up like a a pair of Leight Lights, it's a pip.

L&O FINALLY showed up on streaming here in Canada a few weeks ago! However it's only seasons 10-20. Amazon Prime has it.

For years I've been wondering how the heck L&O hasn't been streaming anywhere. I think maybe it has to do with the syndication contracts in place for that show.
