I can't believe I didn't save it, but when we cleared out my grandfather's old house/office when he died (30 years ago) he had MANY old copies of Reader's Digest magazine. They used to feature cigarette ads like yours on the back cover. The one I remember most was a WWII-era (or shortly thereafter) ad with a white-coated "doctor".....and the copy read "Four out of five doctors recommend Camel for less throat irritation."
Remember.....this was NON-FILTERED Camels. ;););)

I actually enjoyed Merit Menthol. I started with Winston’s. My Grandaddy smoked Winston’s. No I didn’t pilfer his he died when I was about six. Only about a half pack to a pack a day. I smoked some from about sixteen and quit at about twenty. One of the best accidental decisions I ever made.

Viceroys! Man, those were some rank cigarettes. Not as bad as Old Gold though. At least I could smoke a Viceroy if nothing else was available.

Back in the day, of course. Haven't had any tobacco in 8 years now. Still get the twitch sometimes but nothing too bad.
