I Don’t Understand Reverb/EBay Prices

There are a lot of shops who have "stores" on eBay and Reverb. It's just a way to widen their reach. I don't necessarily recommend this (because there are some benefits to buying through them -- such as the purchase protection) but I found a guitar I liked on Reverb being sold by a reputable dealer, so I contacted them directly, made a deal and didn't have to pay the Reverb handling charges.

Yea! Look to your right, look to your left. Those people are dumb. I will happily sell a used pedal that is available new for $100+ over new in stock price. Why not? I recently sold an OD almost $200 more than I paid for it and they were still in stock at the maker and at GC. So someone just clicks and buys without paying attention to the value, thanks. Some people have too much money.
We all love to blather about resale value of a modded Squier. It’s dead simple to flip pedals and I almost never sell for less than new price because there are enough people who think everything unavailable is good, anything that takes 3 extra days to get is collectible.

There are also buyers who never check retail prices and just hop on Reverb assuming it's all at lower prices than new.

There's also the sellers who want to take offers but also want to position themselves just ahead of the standard price as well so they get first crack at making the sale.

$389 for a used guitar strap, which seller calls "vintage."

Or $19.99 from Sweetwater for same pattern.

Duke of Tone is a “preorder” on Sweetwater. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Usually when I see used gear on reverb for the same or higher than Sweetwater it is because Sweetwater is having a sale or the price came down.
Then sellers who paid $200 still want $150 used even if that is the new sale price.
For that matter, we may consider the lowest price we can find to the THE PRICE, while at least some players might buy local and pay more.

If this case is about one specific pedal being hyped the way we are such suckers for pedal hype, and out of stock or available for preorder?
WTH is preorder?
Why buy the latest reissue clone of a pedal that has been made by multiple brands for decades, on preorder?

FOMO based GAS due to internet hype!

I got my clone I think on a madbean board more than ten years ago.
So many are available, it is NOT some new unobtanium pedal.

eBay often allows you to submit OFFERS on some items. If that is available, use it! But most sellers automatically reject offers less than $X.00. If so, I am done.

My biggest complaint is USED items on eBay are becoming rare, let alone affordable ones.

Cause some people trying to get as much as possible for the things they are selling and other people just don't pay attention at the price difference.

Sometimes it makes sense to buy from Reverb for the same or even higher price then the gear used to be sold on eshops.

An example can be current Vintera Road Worn line, some of color options are no longer available in shops, so if you'd like to grab one, you need to hurry up and buy it off Reverb for a full price. Or you have to wait till it appears as a 2nd hand goods somewhere. ..but in my case, being located in an area where I live, I might have to wait forever :D 2nd hand market rarely offers interesting stuff..

Who is buying used for same price as new?
It’s illogical.
I‘m with you! I’m not buying used with little or no guarantee when I can buy new for a few dollars more.
Wait for a coupon or sale and get 10-15% off a new item. Even when the item is a brand that’s excluded, if you call they’ll apply the discount.
Used gear sellers have lost their minds

I also prefer paying a few dollars more for a new thing. That's why it is important to surf the Internet and check several selling sources before making a purchase. I've recently read an interesting article about Amazon or eBay which is better here. It seems that Amazon has better customer service, higher ranking, more issues resolved during calls, and thus, more customers. I personally usually compare the prices first, though the quality of customer service also plays a big role.

Boxes and shipping supplies are expensive, then shipping, insurance, selling fee-commission and taxes, it adds up; especially for indiviuals wanting to sell. How else to recover the costs? Sell a guitar for $600 with free shipping you might end up netting $400 if you are lucky. Throw in that VAT if overseas sale and you are entering The Twilight Zone...and then "you didn't tell me the pickguard had a scratch almoust as wide as one strand of hair, I want my money back!". Can't be bothered.
