I posted last week about Tone Bomb Bodies, and thought I had ordered one off of Ebay.

    Turns out I didnt.

The one I got came from Tauro Wood Works out of Lakeville, New York and its a beauty!

Its a VERY nicely done two piece ash body with almost perfect grain matching at the join.

According to my handy machinist's ruler it specs out perfectly.

Needs very little sanding to be ready to finish.

    Not bad for $60.00!

How lucky was that about the grain nearly matching! What are the odds?

I misread this initially as “neck pocket rout” lol glad I double checked your actual post before pointing it out to you.

Tauro has a bit of a reputation here if you search. That being said I did a custom body through him and am impressed. All the specs I asked for for about $100 + ship (nowhere near $96). Must have caught him on a good day.

The thread that I found was 2.5 years ago.

People can learn a lot in 2.5 years!

I have no complaints so far, lets see how the build goes.

I don't quite see someone going to all the trouble to grain match at that level and then slack up on a route or something silly.

I'm looking forward to your feedback, I'm in the planning phases of a build myself and your thread title caught my eye because my first go-to idea on the body was TB.

    No problem!

I'm planning on chronicling the whole event!

I just got the neck and its a pretty loose fit in the body.

There's a credit card thickness gap in the pocket.

I understand that's not a big deal except for the fact that its ugly!
No La Cabronita pick guard for me!

Stratosphere says that due to overwhelming demand for a "a more affordable neck with a vintage appearance but with more contemporary dimensions." they apparently had these made.

10" radius C-shape with medium jumbos.

Looks nice, but it's so finely grained there's almost NO grain pattern anywhere.

They've sold hundreds of them, so they must be OK.

Haven't weighed it yet, but its heavy.

This is some very dense ash!

    I just weighed it.

    5.8 pounds.

It feels a LOT heavier than that!

    Well guys.

I was just kind of cruising along, mostly just collecting parts until I saw THIS!
I'll substitute my existing Humbucker for the P-90, then get just the right cut on an 8 screw pick guard and I'm all set!

    Oooh, that's actually kinda hot.
Keep that P-90 in there, I'm good with it. Put in open G and it would be slide machine.
