That's a classic!
Great guitars . I got one at the Dec. Mine is P90 Goldtop version.
Weight be damned it's the best feeling, playing and sounding guitar I've ever owned
Welcome to the Standard 50s owners club! It looks like a keeper, to me! The pickups are beautiful things, agreed.
That looks as nice as any LP. Proof that a Standard is as nice, maybe nicer being understated, than a Custom.
Wow!! That is one spectacularly beautiful guitar.
That, IMHO, is the definition of “a Les Paul”.
As “Porsche” is a Seventies pre-DOT 911S.
I’ll make a prediction: Everyone knows it’s too heavy, that’s baked into that cake. You’re gonna keep it because you are not insane.
Welcome to the club! I got a Goldtop one. It came in at 9 lbs 3 oz. I lucked out!
Congrats. She's a beauty!
I too have a love/hate relationship with LPs - I hate the weight & the controls, but the tones and sustain ....
Get a good strap and enjoy!
Gorgeous! A glass of wine with you, sir!
OP here. Thanks for all the compliments on the guitar. I do think this LP is a keeper!
I was gassing badly for one of these a while back. I had the Epiphone equivalent (the one with a massive neck, 56 pro or something) and it was actually a really nice guitar. But at the time I really wanted one of the 2019 Gibson specials in TV yellow, so the Epi went to help fund that.
Soon after I realised I really missed the Goldtop [emoji38] the Gibson's look lovely but there's just no way at the moment.... One day though
My local store was a Gibson dealer for a long time, I'd bought two from them previously . They stopped for a year or two though. I told them whenever they got back aboard I wanted a P90 LP
So they got back into Gibson which was good but I have a thing about putting my money where my mouth is. I was going to find a way to at least make it a birthday present to myself, just turned 60 but fate intervened. Last fall I got an unexpected refund from my ins company. It was almost to the penny what the new guitar cost. So yeah, that was my cue. Got it the day after Christmas
Yeah, they're hard to give up. For me at least
10 lbs too heavy? Hahahahaha. Mine's 12 lbs. Had her over 20 years too.

I bought a 60's that is 9 lbs. I think I need a 50's after seeing that.
Very nice, enjoy!
Nice guitar! Is that Iced Tea? The top looks great
