This week I decided that I need a good Les Paul in the collection. This one’s a 2020 50s Standard in Cherry Sunburst. I picked a top that doesn’t look like the “clownburst”. I’m a Tele guy but missed the sound of a LP through a Plexi...in my case a Strymon Iridium set to punch.
The negative- 10lbs 2oz of weight! The upside...great fit and finish, gobs of sustain etc. Nice meaty neck but not too fat. Love the pickups. With a thick leather strap I’m good. I’ll give it a few weeks and decide whether this ones a keeper or if the weight is a deal breaker. That's flat-out gorgeous. You'll get used to the weight. Les Pauls have to be heavy so you don't get blown away in the wind from your amp.

Awesome! That's a great looking burst. These new standard models are really gonna help Gibson turn a corner, glad to hear the fit and finish are up to snuff. Congrats!

Sweet guitar.....but, yeah....weight would be a deal breaker for me. :(
But one thing you said confused me.....".....but not too fat."
What is this "too fat" you refer to? I've never found a neck that was too fat. ;)

    Beauty!!

Wear it right and the weight won’t bother you. I tend to wear a Les Paul significantly lower than a fender style guitar. The way the set neck angles back in the pocket, and the strap button location lends itself to a lower position being really comfortable. It also drops the weight in a straight line down the middle of my back that way, rather than pulling so hard on one shoulder.

My LP is just under 10 lbs, but because of the way it sits like that, it’s easier on my back for three hours than my sub-6 lb S style ESP.
