Lately I can’t put the Hendrix down. I adore the neck pickup clean. Bought it from Dave’s. This was the online advertising photo. I love the 60’s style pickups.

    Is this the MIM version?

This is actually the strat I wish I bought.. I was 50/50 spending the money for it as I had some bills to pay, and we need to move so I needed cash to pay movers and all..

it was only made 1 year, and I wish I bought it.. just for collection sake.. I love the look of this guitar.. even if it's heavy or a turns out to be a dog, Id still gladly have it.. LOLOL

    Yes.

1982 “Smith” Strat, originally Olympic White, now yellowed and worn.

When you wear through your callouses, do what Stevie Ray did and just dip your fingertips in SuperGlue.

Even inexpensive guitars get good paint these days. We are in the Golden Age of electric guitars.

When I got it, I was a little disappointed- Other than a little intonation correction and giving the truss rod an eighth of a turn, there wasn't much to do. I like setting up guitars. Oh- I lowered the ceramic pickups nearly to the guard, they sound a lot sweeter now.

I also rolled the fretboard edges a bit and have ordered a set of Bootstrap '54 Vintage Pro pickups and a strawberry puke colored pickguard from Amazon, but none of that needed to be done. It was just fun to do, and the guitar deserves some TLC.

    Beautiful strat!

and yes I agree.. nowadays, if you've got good amount of change, you can practically get a giggable guitar with a little bit of work on your end.

It looks like they're temporarily out of humbuckers at the moment...

I know what you mean about making up your mind what pickups to get. So many good choices. It took me months to decide which Strat set to get from Bootstrap, vintage or a bit hotter with a bit of vintage vibe left. I went with vintage.

I love the Hendrix/RHCP/Dire Straits sounds, so that helped me decide on vintage. Why not go for the stratiest strat sounds you can get? If I guessed wrong, I'm only out 55 bucks...

That's a beautiful looking Strat. What year is it? I guess it's a pre-CBS model. Beautiful Olympic white finish!

Officially, it's called "red pearl". Screenshot_20211022-001959.png

I suppose raspberry puke might be a better description. $6.50 on Amazon. I went all out...
I wanted red tort, but the $6.50 tort was just too hideous. I would have had to spend double the money to get a tort that I could like, lol.
