Nice one! Congrats!
I much prefer your second one ;D
Are the vintage tuners you have on somehow defective? If not, why swap them?
Those two should cover most styles.
I actually bought them last week for a guitar that I ended up returning. I'm kind of split on whether to keep them or return them. I've always loved these vintage-style tuners and they are actually really great. But on the other hand, I really like the beefier look of locking tuners and ease of changing strings. Plus you have fewer winds with the locking tuners which should technically improve tuning stability even though the difference in the real world is marginal. It's kind of like an "I already bought them so why not use them" situation. I really enjoyed having them on the Nashville Deluxe Tele that I had to return.
Personally, I swear by vintage-style tuners (for looks and function). I also don't like swapping out perfectly good parts unless there's a need. (NB: preferring the other kind of tuner qualifies!). So if I were you, I'd return the locking tuners. I also think they would not look all that good on a 50s style tele.
BUT that's me. OMMV.
I love those Vintera 50s teles. I feel that Fender has made a real effort to put something pretty damn close to the old AVRIs at mid-price point. And the red finish is purdy… I mean, look at this:
(no political affiliation to the host! Or to the performer!)
PS: you don't necessarily have less winds with locking tuners. With vintage tuners, you just have to cut the string before you insert the tip. 2 posts for wound strings, 3 for the others.
Congrats, hope this one stays with you.
Alright alright I'll return them!! The vintage tuners are perfect as they are, I do agree!!
Also, how big is he?? He makes that Tele look TINY!!! I honestly wasn't sure on the color at first, but I've grown to love it. It really looks amazing in person.
Rite on! Nice 1st tele
Glad you finally found the “one”. Enjoy and go play!
I really liked that Tele and almost bought it. Love the colour.
Rav, welcome to the club. My Nashville is one of my favorites. Yours looks great!
The story goes that Eldon Shamblin (who was a big man!) told Leo "I don't wanna play one of these two-by-four". They do look small on big men! Eventually Eldon accepted a strat, however… still a lot smaller than his Super 400!
Hope you hang onto the red one - she looks sweet
Hmmmm I'm not sure there is a perfect guitar.
I know there are ones that inspire and ones that don't.
I think different guitars inspire you to play in different ways, so do amps for that matter.
I also think you can get use to almost anything and make it work for you.
I think the "type" you keep coming back to is the perfect one for you.
Finally got one that is “ how they all should be”
to me........for me........
I love it.
Thanks for posting that video, radioFM74.
Tasty pickin', awesome singing!!
Beautiful Tele. Enjoy and have some fun!
