Dad's got a milestone birthday coming up and he's a huge Chrissie Hynde/Pretenders fan. So I figured I would build him the perfect tele for him and model it after Chrissie's gold sparkle tele that she played on the Pretenders Live in London performance.

    Here's the rundown:
    - Warmoth Pro neck
    - Ebony fretboard
    - abalone inlays
    - Stainless Steel frets
    - '59 round back contour with a 1 3/4" neck. Chunky like his Gibsons.
    - Grover locking tuners
    - Lollar '52 neck pickup
    - Lollar Vintage T bridge
    - Vintage style bridge with Wilkinson compensated brass saddles.
    - Fender Baja body and neck plate.
    - New Fender Tweed case.
    - 4 way switch, paper in oil cap.

I did the matching glitter headstock finish myself. The neck finish is nitro. Here's video rundown of it

    Hope you guys dig it.

    Adam

Cheers! Thank you. This was the one I was having the 4 way issue on. Really happy with how it came out. I was very pumped to ship it off to him today, but I'd really bonded with it after playing it so much to get it just right. It's cool how each guitar just has its own personality. This one is a good one. I can't wait to hear from him once he gets it.

Ah that's great! I'm sure he'll love it and what a surprise when he sees what the mailman delivered....He'll seem like a kid again opening it up.

Are you planning on using Skype when he opens it?

Wow thanks for all of the kind words guys. I just wanted to share a cool guitar with you all. It was a very fun project. I love finding the perfect little details for people. It sounds funny, but finding that neck pickup for him that I think he'll love and use was so important to the project. Pumped for him to open it. Also can't wait to play in a full band full volume setting with him and hear it cranked. In October we're getting together and will have at least one full band jam while we're together.

That's a fantastic-looking (and sounding) axe, Adam. You really hit a grand slam with this one. I dig it and I'm sure your Dad will too. I hope he enjoys BOTH his presents this year: a killer new tele and son any father would be proud of who went out of his way to make his day special with a very unique and personal gift. Cheers to you and many happy returns to your father.

So that's the one that was giving you a devil of a time with that 4-way huh? Well it's was well worth the effort to get it sorted out. Looking at that photo and the specs that is one hell a nice Tele Adam. Happy Birthday to dear old Dad!!!

Hmmm. I've got one of them milestone birthdays coming up. And my son is a dab hand at fixing guitars and whatnot. Time for subtle hints!
