I Built a Particle Board Telecaster (and Compared it to Swamp Ash!)

    To my ears, fwiw, the resonance on the bottom end of the OSB is like half that of the ash, and theres more highs...in not an unpleasant way. But the lows really are a noticeable difference and the killer for me.

    Agree! Glad it’s not just me.

    I would really like to know the views of the OP, because he was actually playing them, and whether he has tried with any of the great tube amps in the room. We are hearing direct through a modeler, which isn’t ideal for subtleties of dynamics, particularly when compressed via youtube and whatever else is in the chain between the guitar and the output device.

    Considering the difference that is apparent even under these circumstances, I wonder how apparent the difference is in the room, to the player.

    I agree with Cody_J, Fred Kelly picks have been my choice for years, though I'm partial to Fred Kelly's Delrin Slick picks (https://fredkellypicks.com/product/delrin-slick/)

    I don't think the particle board body had more highs, maybe a bit more mids.
