I had one of these last year, it was ok. Got it from MF with a dodgy pickup for 290. Bought a new pickup for $60, sold it for 600 all up on ebay. Was a nice guitar, but it seemed a little lack lustre.

Now I saw MF were selling 3 of these with free delivery, I scored this one for $439 unseen. Just picked it up from the depot after work. The grain and colour is much better. The pickups are way better than the older one. The overall finish is better. This one has the lacquer neck, older MIM's have satin finish.

Plugged it in before to my little PF15, sounds great!

Oh yeah MF also threw in a deluxe gig bag for me too, nawww.

weight is 8 1/2 Ibs, so hefty but I sit when playing.

    Pic should have worked.

Same story. I had one of these, too, and sold it for no good reason. I bought another one a year ago from MF for $519. To me, it's worth every penny!

I just got one of these too. Never meant to get it, just say it hanging on the wall at a local guitar shop, plugged it in, and was hooked!

I want one of these in white blonde pretty badly. If I could only find one with a rosewood fretboard though...

I also meant to ask: how do yall like the noiseless pickups? I hear they are rather hit or miss. Why is that?

I think they are bit harsh in the bridge but nice in the neck.

I like the VN pickups. They're wound hot, and being alnico V magnets, you can go from warm and smooth to down and dirty just by twisting the volume knob. :D

It really depends on the sound you're hoping to achieve and how you use your pickup selector switch...

I really like these particular VN pickups, the last set I had were pretty 'meh', but these ones sound like a tele -but no buzz and slightly more output. I certainly wouldn't call them hot though, more like vintage with bigger balls.

A lot of people say they are 'hi-fi' sounding, and I agree, they are crystal clear throughout their range. I thought we were all looking for more clarity in all our pickups, then that way people might start using their tone knobs.

The neck and hardware is great, I might transfer it all onto a lighter MIM body off stratosphere. for $439, it's no big deal! I think I will add a wilkinson bridge too, I really liked the last one I had.

Will take some pics when the sun is out.

I have two of these and I really like them , they play great , sound real fine to me and look good. The best guitars I've owned and I've had over forty.
