I started sporadically buying parts 12 months ago, Dec 2019. I’ve spent all evening assembling and doing a cursory setup. I’ve only played it about 15 minutes. Couldn’t quite get pictures to do it justice. It’s a very good looking guitar IMO.

    specs:
Body: 2 piece alder, double bound

neck: Fender limited edition with ebony fretboard and black headstock. Schaller locking tuners

bridge: Glendale Strate Plate with Wilkinson saddles

pickups and wiring: Vaughn Skow, Vaughn’s Velvet Tele, with Obsidianwire 4 way switch.

Merle Haggard pickguard. All other parts are Fender.

I didn’t get the Strate Plate for cosmetics, I got it to help with the harshness of the bridge pickup. When I later read it probably wouldn’t help much, I decided to go with different pickups which is how I found the Vaughn’s Velvet.

I set the pickup heights to Vaughn Skow’s recommendation whereas my 52 avri pickups are set to Fender’s recommendations. First impression (again, only a few minutes) is that positions 1-3 are a lot smoother than the 52s, but again the pickups heights are set a lot different between the 2 Teles I have. Position 4 of the Skow is A LOT weaker than the 4 position on my 52. I’m probably going to move these pickups slightly closer to the strings.

the prettiness of the neck (which was the most expensive part of the guitar btw) can’t be beat. But it’s going to take some getting used to because it’s a lot wider and flatter fretboard than my 52 avri.

Anyway, I’m getting long. Thanks for looking.

That's a looker of a tele for sure. I remember checking out those pickups online a few years ago. They were a pretty nice set as I recall. Take your time to fine tune them.
