i couldn't help being annoyed for a moment, and you may say what did i expect for that price but i didn't expect the neck pocket to be in that much of a state. i'm sure GFS XGP bodies are fantastic! i am partly to blame for being a cheapskate. so please forgive my outburst, i do actually really like it here and i intend to stay. also please don't lose interest with my threads because i have two more builds coming up and i would love to share them with you guys. i can't help my overly polite englishness and say sorry so sorry! tally ho old sports! i will use the body for something, i kinda made it good now anyway. thanks SAM_0451.JPG SAM_0463.JPG SAM_0465.JPG

That turned out nice, i'd sand that neck pocket smooth too. The pocket would be my biggest concern. It must be tough sanding that thick finish by hand.
Let the anger at gfs shipping you a defect body fuel the sanding process to speed things up.:)

Don’t worry. We still love you.

The TDPRI community is about coming here to sound off with friends, we occasionally have a bit of a scrap, kiss, make up and move on.

    Have a great day ahead!

In my view if a vendor is prepared to ship abroad then they should fully recompense you when an item is so obviously faulty. It is their website's claim that a product is fit for purpose that persuaded you to pay for both the product and international shipping. Yes your first post was a bit of a rant, but later ones seemed a bit too meek and accepting to me. The body you received was not acceptable, and bore no resemblance to what GFS claim to be providing. They have failed to provide the item for which they took your money. GFS contracted with an international shipper to deliver a piece of junk to you at significant cost. They either have no quality control in place or think it and you the customer do not matter.

I've just had a message from Thomann to say my latest order has been despatched, they know how to do customer service. I don't think that they sell guitar bodies though.

I will have to fill and redrill the neck holes too, they are not straight at all. with soapy water it was not that tough to sand. thanks buddy!

Forum readers always get triggered by complaint posts for some reason. People usually have to learn that the hard way.

Maybe that's why agenda/gripe posts are against the rules.

Yea maybe so. It’s universal across forums of many topics. I dunno - we’ve all been there. They’ve never bothered me much.

The XGP bodies are better than the standard line, but the two I’ve bought should have been rejected at the factory. No more GFS wood for me.

GFS comes up a lot. Your post was a catalyst for me to see if there were suggestions for other suppliers. I understand you don't want to come across as complaining but I think it's a valuable topic of discussion nonetheless.

I find GFS bodies to be useful for the most part. Better than 85%.

I find their pickups (at least the ones I have bought) to be spot on bargain running 100% usefulness and great value and great tones as stated in their advertisements.

I've never been highly successful with their necks.

The conductive shielding black paint is a highly sought product for all of my builds and factory built reworks.

It's only fair to remind people that dealing with Guitar Fetish is a crapshoot. You pays your money, you takes your chances. Those who claim nothing but 100% positive, happy dealings with them - I'd step lightly.

I'm still pretty sure I'll take the gamble on a Strat body from them when I'm ready to build. I know what I'm getting into and the work to make it work is truly part of the fun for me. I can take out my frustration with the work on working it out. Maybe I'll regret it, maybe not, but I'm willing to be a bit of a guinea pig.
