The sixth floor museum is great. Not exactly a "fun" place but VERY interesting.

And as for Tex Mex, you can't throw a cat without hitting a decent tex mex joint around here so you should enjoy that too.

Make sure there are Mexicans working at the Tex-Mex joint, white folks don't do Tex-Mex right. An even better idea would be to find a taco joint.

One thing to remember, good BBQ doesnt need any sauce.
Tex-Mex is okay if you love cheese sauce...:p

    Idk. Do they?

I was just responding to the Mexicans and Tex Mex comment. I've noticed a lot of Chinese places have Mexicans in the kitchen. I am Mexican, so I find that peculiar. That's all

Texans have this strange idea that barbecue is beef. It is a wonder they don't put catsup in their beer.

I hope you didn't find my comment racist, if anything it was racist to white folks.

LOL! Why yes we do love our smoked beef brisket BBQ down here in Texas... Takes about 15 hours to do it right on the big ones. The people from other states must not have the patience I guess.

Danny I hope you enjoy your stay down here... too bad you won't have more time to visit. Maybe next time.

    Take care...

Oh I'm definitely coming back. Gonna bring my whole family next time. I bet my wife and kiddo will love it.

Ended up going to Pappasito's for dinner. It was good, but not as soulful as I had hoped.

Reverbdude, no need to explain. Racism is kinda wasted on me, cuz I don't let that stuff get to me. If I only loved those who love me, what good would that be?

I just wanted to clarify my previous point that us Mexi folk do make a mean Asian dish. Goes to show good food don't care about skin color ;)

Even though I'm mostly veggie, you guys are making me hungry. Colorado isn't really known for it's BBQ.

You'd be surprised. Maxine's in Richardson is bad a$$.

One Sunday, I overheard a pretty Chinese American girl talking on her phone in a pronounced "Valley Girl" accent... She was saying, "Oh my God! It's totally like California... but better! I mean like, the food's just as good, but it's like, half the price!"

We usually drop around $50 each when we go there, so I guess that means I can't afford to eat dim sum in California!

For some reason, Texas seems to arouse people's passions. You either love it or you hate it. Don't know anyone who's just neutral...

No place is perfect, but for me, Texas is close! ;)

Ahh the best thing about living down here in Texas is the Mexican food

The more you head down south the better. Check out south padre island too.

    Cheers

I also enjoyed Mexican food in Arizona. Pretty close to the real deal!

Yeah, Pappasito's is a chain restaurant. Good food, but I get you on the non soulful aspect. The good Tex Mex is found in the taqueria's and such. Bring your family back in the spring or fall when the weather is nice

I keep telling my wife we need to move to the Southwest, but she grew up in Arizona so she's got some reservations about living in hot weather again. But man do I love to be down here. It's a different world

I hear you! There really is no Shangri La, but if you get lucky you find something that works for you.

It's just a bummer we didn't get more free time. I woulda liked to explore a bit more.

However I will be back on Portland time tonight.
