It's not about enjoying others' misfortunes...it's entertaining for viewers because it satisfies the psychological need to rehearse/experience misfortune without risk. It actually strengthens our own coping mechanisms for when we experience these sorts of things for ourselves. Same goes for watching soap operas, heartbreak/tragedy films, etc. But I'm no clinical psychologist

Sometimes it's funny as all git-out. "There but for the grace of God go THEM!"

Despite all that, I cannot watch these sorts of fail vids that have the stupid "Bob and Tom" voiceover.

Does any of this stuff require an explanation?

well no it doesn't. I don't mind the voice over. Check the plumbing part at 2 mn 36. I sort of feel bad for laughing at that, but that is a bit surreal.

Thanks for a good laugh on a Sunday morning. At least I didn't hear anybody in the video say "Trust me, I'm an expert" first.

Natural selection can be amusing. Ever watch Gooney birds land? Thinking things through is not guaranteed for all.

One time in college I was standing--barefoot, longhaired, in overalls--talking with a friend, across Colton Avenue from the Student Union. Somebody (I found out later) had robbed the Student Union coffee shop, and a black-and-white came screaming up Colton, turned in at the SU, and the officer jumped out and ran in.

"Watch this!" I remember telling my friend. The policeman ran back out, jumped in his car, and took off the wrong way up the ad-hill loop. KABAM! He head-on collided with a Volkswagen coming down from the hill, chase over. Och tamale.

I hope no one was hurt. I couldn't stop laughing long enough to go find out.
