I was watching borne to kill a while ago, and there was the scene with the canned raviolis, being eaten / devoured and weeks later, I started thinking about eating canned raviolis when I was a kid, same brand. and I started thinking about them weeks after seeing the scene , but! That's how product placement works! That's how subliminal motivation works on the human brain.
I bought some tonight, raviolis when I went to get some food at the store. Same brand, bigger size , and I'm imagining how good that their going to taste when I eat them tonight.
The film didn't make me want to sign up for military service, or buy an AR-15, or become a humvee driver, but that's were it starts , it's those fond childhood memories or imagined memories and before you know it your looking forward to Canned raviolis.
Yes this is true and it's tongue in cheek.
I can't wait , mmmmmmmmm

Ha funny, me too. I can't go to Costco for that reason.

Well, except for wine. I'm a connoisseur of the bottom shelf when it comes to wine.

It seems the product placement is more and more present in recent movies... I remember pat smear eating doritos (brand name clearly readable )the studio 666 movie.

I also remember an action scene in an older movie whick took place in a small super market and all the products were plain white with beer in black letters, or chips or raviolis. No brand, nothing.

Oh, must have been Aldi or Lidl. 😁
In a moment of nostalgia I decided to get a can of tamales. Ugh, bad move. Likely similar to dog food, but with more salt.
I know better than to try another boyhood fav, Vienna sausages.
What kids love just tests adults gag reflex.

When I worked for a spark plug company, our ad agency started doing that in the 80s.
It was sort of neat, a new concept at the time. We got some in some James Bond and racing
movies..and some odd movies.. pricey back then..but not as much as Bowl season or super bowl
time. Sometimes, they would do it after the fact. What were they going to do , edit it out if we
did not pay. lol ..

Years ago I was in the company softball league, and one year we kept arguing about what the team name would be. Our boss got tired of it, and had our shirts printed up without our input. The name he chose was “No Names”. He thought he was being funny and it would teach us a lesson. Wrong - that summer some brewer started selling a discount beer called No Name Beer. Needless to say, we brought some to every game, and we were the only team with their own private label beer. We should have charged them an advertising fee, but the beer wasn’t really any good, and it disappeared shortly after.

I think that was Repo Man with Emilio Estevez. Back when generic products were a thing. Now it’s Kirkland or other house brands.
