As of yesterday I have a glucose monitor semi-permanently attached underneath my upper left arm.

Anyone else running biotech peripherals (other than those doofy watches)?

So, I take it a GCM and not a Libre type device?

I have stiches from a belly button hernia - they used nylon thread - that sometimes poke me from the inside. Does that count?

I have one attached to my upper left arm as well. Do you use your phone to check levels? I've found that it is much easier to "not go off the rails" with what I eat. The monitor always knows. Pisses me off, but it's been good for my A1C.

My doctor's nurse snorted at me and tried to shame me when I told her I HATED sticking myself in my fingers multiple times a day, and that I'm a guitar player and I hate trying to figure out which fretting finger to poke next. Ultimately I had to tell her that if they didn't give me a prescription for one of these monitors that I was going to find a different doctor. I much prefer replacing this thing once every two weeks vs multiple finger ****** every day.

Edit to add: evidently the forum software does not want you to talk about pr!ck!ng your finger. You'd think I was talking about fingering my pr!ck.

I still have all of my original parts (less one appendix and one set of tonsils), but as yet have no Borg implants...

A best friend of mine is diabetic - I help with data analysis. Their doctor does not want to write a script for more than once or twice a day to poke themselves. My friend tests 6 times a day - before and after every meal, and it is a constant struggle with doctors about scripts to test more often. They also have a Libre - but that bloody thing (pun not intended) consistently runs 20 to 30 points low. Before the 14 day units, which are now encrypted, phone apps like Glimp could be used with finger pr!cks to calibrate and keep them within 5 or 10 points, which is much better. My friend does very tight control - 30 to 45 carbs a day - which significantly helps to limit roller coasters, meds, and crashes. It is sometimes a bit of a challenge when we would go out for food, but I am grain free and low carb, so the challenge is always there anyhow. Their doc, however, wants their A1C higher - like in the 6.x range. My friend uses low carb and low dose meds to keep it in the very low 5s, shooting for 4.5. Docs don't like you taking care of yourself - or maybe they are just afraid of being sued for a low sugar issue, and would rather have you die than risk a law suit.

Something is definitely wrong with the whole system.

I have a titanium plate and six titanium screws fusing my C5/C6/C7 vertebrae, due to two ruptured discs in 2006.

I have got a screw in one of my teeth, but it is just there to fill void. I had it installed about 6, 7 years ago, and my new dentist tells me that is not how we do things anymore. Can i have something durable ? I don't really feel like spending 700 euros on a teeth every 7 years, and i really don't feel comfortable sitting in a dentist chair for 2 hours.

I hope what you guys have will stand the test of time, and will not migrate to some unexpected parts of your body. Don't laugh, it happens.

edit and reading the comments on google, my new dentist is a good one. The one i intented to go was something like you could see in the dentist movie, according to the comments.

^^^^^I have the same fusions and now I have an impingement on C3 and C4.^^^^^ I'll have to self cath 3 times a day for the rest of my life because my brain doesn't communicate with my bladder. I have 3 permanent staples in my groin from an appendix surgery when I was 18.

I'm still a caveman, in regards to blood glucose levels, watch what I eat/drink (high protein, low carb) and stick myself just a couple times a day, now that seems to under control with med adjustment.....as far as the borg part, I am now the proud owner of 2 titanium hips...legs sometimes feel a bit weird (still working on the muscles), but I can walk now where nobody would notice, compared to pre-June, when I was using a walker, and Aug (when I had the second) was using a cane. Still don't feel comfortable with the idea of attempting to run, but am considering finishing the rehab on my bicycle and going for some easy rides before it gets cold down here - needs new brake pads, but not necessary for the type of riding I'd be starting with, but my front shifter needs some work, won't "catch" trying to upshift to second or third front cog...feels like a good blasting with some canned air and a spray of plastics-safe contact cleaner might just do the trick....but I digress....yeah had two hips replaced, about $60,000 each....BUT, thankfully my employer provided top notch insurance, only had to pay maybe $700 out of pocket total, including 6 weeks of therapy for each hip. That is THE one good thing I'll say about my (now former) employer (hospital) is their medical insurance was incredible, and am very thankful for that. Now that I can walk just fine, it's time to find a new job, which should be "fun." Those continuous glucose monitors are quite interesting, though
