I agree with Vince Gill as well:
"Just grateful to be married to a kind woman."
Hard to argue against the Hag. RIP
Vinnie is a thoughtful man and I think he gave a good answer. Hag is my favorite too.
Yep, Hag as good as any.
Yes, Hag was pretty good.
Like he said, hard to narrow it down to one but Merle is way, way up there.
Thanks for the wake-up call VG.
I was waiting for him to say George Jones.
I know he loved the man.
I can't remember anything Vince Gill has ever said that I disagreed with.
The whole package right there, singing and guitar playing that make you smell the beer, and smoke, and maybe even the restroom in that old smoke filled bar. You know what I'm talkin' about.
Vince Gill nails it.
Here is a line from the Travis Tritt song, Outlaws Like Us.
"You can talk all day 'bout the next Billy Ray but I'll cast my vote for Hag."
theres a handful qualified to be considered, but I cant disagree strongly enough to argue against it being the Hag.
It is hard to imagine anyone coming along whose body of country work will be considered better than Haggard's.....I'd put Willie Nelson right in there though
Willie kind of catered to a different crowd though. Uh, maybe?
I was lucky enough to catch a Merle Haggard concert about ten or fifteen years ago. Good show.
Skynyrd Covers Haggard.
