This is the last day of November, and it has been brrrr cold, it's 58 degrees here today, and it's raining to boot. We played golf on Tuesday, and it was 73 degrees. Oh well, we who live in California must endure our two or three months of inconvenient weather. I know those of you who turn flip flops because it's getting to be skiing weather won't find much sympathy for us here, but it is the sunshine state.

I feel like I need to build a fire, or at least ignite the gas log in our fireplace. They are playing golf in Bermuda today, I think I'll watch the sunshine on TV. Obsessed is probably running around naked in the snow, rubbing the stuff all over his body getting his bath for the week.

I just got back from 3 weeks of camping at Big Bend National Park. I've been doing this just about every year since 1979, sleeping in a tent in below freezing conditions.

I've about decided my cold weather tent camping days are over... I want a comfortable bed and heating at night. Cold sucks.. cold hurts.. cold is bitter.

Time to get a camper van with a heater. No more freezing my ass off camping, at least in base camp.. I'm done with bitter cold.

We had our first really cool days here in SW Florida this week. I think it was 42 at the house yesterday morning. I'm loving it! I much prefer to be cold than hot. I always say, you can always put on more clothes but you can only take off so much before someone calls the cops.

My wife doesn't like camping at all and being Jewish, her idea of roughing it is staying in the Courtyard instead of the Marriott.:lol::lol:

Get on a Fender bender...warm your spirits with a good bottle around a fire, tele in hand. Strats make good kindling ;)

Same here in SE Florida, and my heating system doesn't work.

Hasn't worked for years and we never bothered seeing what's wrong with it, because we only get a few cold days a year. Once in a blue moon, a week or two.

Thirty nine lovely farenheits here, currently. Warmest it's been in a couple weeks. Snow and ice is melting!

I really don't mind our winters. In fact, I rather enjoy them.

Ask me again in late January.

I've never been good with cold weather. I was born in South Texas, and I've lived 51 out of 65 years in South Texas. And out of the 14 years I didn't live in South Texas, 8 of those years were spent in North Texas towns. And the six remaining years were spent living on two islands: Puerto Rico and Papua New Guinea. I think I can still count on one hand the number of times I've even seen snow, and I've never been in weather conditions where the temperature dropped below 22 degrees Fahrenheit.

The last time I camped in a tent in freezing conditions, I was in my 30s...early 30s. But like I said, I'm not good with cold. I've had little experience with it, and don't choose to go looking for it.

Lordy, what are you doing in Florida, then?

I don't think there's many places in the US I could live, and I'm not talking about things we can't talk about!

Winter came a month early to the north-east. We set a new record for low temperature last week in Toronto.

At Toronto Pearson International Airport, the mercury fell as low as -13.3 C, compared with the previous Nov. 22 record of -12.4 C set in 1989.

I hate the cold more and more as I get older. Might not bother me as much this winter as I am fat. Was skinny in the spring. Oh the joys of new medication.

Anywho, good thing I live in Toronto then.

    Damn you John Graves Simcoe!

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Yeah, that was abnormally cold but it only lasted about a day. A few tears back that kind of weather came in early January and stayed through March. We became quite used to the term polar vortex. Nasty.

But, going up to around 50 on Sunday, although rainy.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Those are from last winter . It hasn't snowed yet in Kelowna itself, and the hill has less than a metre. :(
