I am trying to find a humbucker with a chrome or nickel cover and SHORT mounting legs for the neck position of one of my 2008 American Standard Teles.

Any suggestions please where I can source such a pickup off the shelf without going custom made or replacing the pickup base plate.

My Gibson Classic 57 sits too high and close to the strings for my liking

    Thanks in advance

If you like the sound of the 57 Classic, use a 5/8" Forstner bit in a drill press to make each end of the pickup rout just a bit deeper to accommodate that pickup.

Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates have short legs. PAFish output as well. So it should balance fairly well with a bridge single coil.

Even the 59 can be ordered with short legs, same as a Seth Lover. I also like the (short legged) Alnico II Pro.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the '59 PAF is only available with long legs, but that's the only one.

Lollars have medium legs. Fit my thinline no problem.

I’m partial to Lollar HBs (Have a high wind in the neck slot of my Suhr T) - warm sweet pickups. They’ve got short legs

    Thanks for all the responses.

I just found out that Toneriders have medium legs as standard on their humbuckers.

They are readily available here in Australia and I had a previous good experience with their Rebel 90s. Price is reasonable as well.

Could be. I have a bunch of old Dimarzio's laying around but nothing new...I remember having to cut screws off for Dimarzios.

Most look like short and medium legs Trev.

The pu in the foreground looks to have slightly longer legs.

I have a Tonerider Rocksong Neck PU with nickel cover on order which I am going to match with a Seymour Duncan Lil 59 for Tele in the bridge.

    Update.

The Tonerider Rocksong in the neck sounds great.

The SD Lil 59 in the bridge was not so great so I pulled it out and put back the Fender bridge pickup. Very happy with the combination.

As a matter of interest for anyone trying to match the phase of a fender pickup with a Gibson style humbucker I reversed the polarity in the American Standard PU very easily.

Those Fender pickups with the molded plastic bobbin have the Alnico slugs in plastic tubes and not in contact with the coil windings. It is a simple matter to push a slug out using a chopstick or something similar and re-insert with a reversed polarity. I took the opportunity to stagger the polepieces to suit my wound G string and to get a better string to string balance overall.
