I just picked this custom-build up and am already considering mods. Both pots are 250. Is there a way to get 500 value when in the humbucker position without adding a separate tone pot?

You could install a 500k volume pot and use a 500k resistor to ground from the bridge hot to let the bridge pup see 250k.

Is that what you mean?
Yes, something like that. Forgive me if I'm not explaining well enough. Since HBs are usually paired with 500K I wonder what sacrifices the tone is experiencing running through a 250.
This is what is currently installed.

Thanks for the great clarification @Esquire Rod

In the section at that link with the title "FAKING OUT YOUR SINGLE COILS WITH RESISTORS" there is a drawing showing a way to wire it.

I notice you have a treble bleed already, you might find that it's no longer needed, but it could remain in place, too.

I think you'll notice more treble frequencies using a 500k pot with a humbucker, instead of a 250k pot, but this will also affect the middle switch position, that is explained further down in the article.

Good luck!
