Hi

I have one of the above amps and love the sound, it is ss on clean and valve pre amp on overdrive

I have a question to anyone who has one of these or knowledge of them

on clean the volume is enormous for playing at home ( only need 20 percent volume to be loud) but on overdrive( the valve channel) it is quiet enough that a cough can over power it, even with all volumes etc on full. I have changed the valve but to no avail

if possible can someone let me know if the overdrive channel on these amps should have the same volume potential as the clean channel

Here's the owners manual, they give some sample settings on pg.6, scroll down to #5 "Modern Heavy Guitar", they have settings for both channels to footswitch between Clean/Overdrive. Maybe try those settings and adjust to your taste. Hope it helps.

many thanks for posting, much appreciated,
i have the manual you linked to for pointers, with the volume on the clean channel set as diagram i get great sound and loud but on overdrive channel unless the overdrive volume, gain, plus master volume is up full i can't here anything from the amp . to give you an idea to loudness at full volume it is at about talking volume.

Just a thought, if the tube hasn't been changed, maybe try that. They did mention that in the manual.
Also, in the effects loop in/out jacks on the back, they may be oxidized a bit . Spray some contact cleaner in them and run a cable plug in and out a few times to clean them. Sometimes that's helped on other amps I had to fix volume issues between channels.
All I got for now, see if any of that helps.

I know this is exhuming an old thread but I had the same problem when I bought one of these a couple of years back. It turned out to be a blown miniature fuse on the circuit board. An easy fix.
This might help anyone else Google-searching for the remedy.
