My favorite blues singer!
Wolf and Earl Hines are probably the two best band leaders ever.
Ask any musician that ever played for either of them.
It saddens me to hear these stories about what an SOB Albert King was to his band, in Albert's defense he adored the crew he had in the Winter of '78/'79.
Wolf had a great mind for The Business and paid his crew when they were idle.
Howlin' Wolf was The Best.
Some of you have probably already guessed that I’m a huge fan
He's the best. Love that dude. HUGE talent, the barrel chest of the blues!
If you watch the few available clips of him on youtube, one can see what a mesmerizing live performer he must have been.
He was Sam Phillips (Sun Records) favorite performer, and he saw some good ones.
All hail the mighty Wolf!
My favorite blues singer as well.
Just thinking about his one chord songs, like Smokestack. Sure doesn't sound boring, at least to me.
He went to night school to get his high school diploma (or was it just to learn how to read?). He also studied music theory for a year with a professor from the Chicago Musical College (now Roosevelt University). Seems like he was cool guy, beneath the gruff exterior. His two step-daughters speak glowingly and lovingly of him.
I Like it a LOT
Howlin' Wolf and Screamin' Jay hawkings are my favourites
Giant of the blues. My Band has murdered plenty of his numbers over the years.
I always thought that Beefheart modelled his vocal style on Wolf.
You are here to tell us about him...yet you don't spell his stage name correctly in the thread title.
Meanwhile Willie Dixon looks bored as hell...
