Greetings from Finland, from a brand new Telecaster owner. I've been messing around with hollow body Gretsches and such for years, but never ever had a Telecaster before this. I'm not much of a player, but so what. It is fun anyway.

It's a bit of a coincidence that I came to try a friend's tele a few weeks ago, but it was such a nice player that I wanted to have one of my own. I'm not dead sure, but pretty certain that I hadn't even tried a Tele before that, believe it or not. I guess you're never too old to learn new things?

I've had a couple of hobby bands in the past and have been running a third one for a year or so. Rockabilly and such is what I like to play and sing, write my own original songs occasionally, too.

Here's a picture of my two current electric guitars: a MIJ '03 Gretsch G6120W-1957 'unofficial Eddie Cochran' model and a MIM '22 Fender Player Telecaster in Butterscotch Blonde. The Tele will be an even more unofficial Paul Burlison model then :). There's my 'bedroom' tweed amp in the picture too, it's a 5 watt Fender 5FA2 Princeton clone from a small Finnish manufacturer. The other amp I've got is a 14 watt 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone and they both come with a 12" speaker.

So glad to have this brand new guitar, glad to be here, too. Hope to learn all technical stuff about Teles at least. Some may recognize me from Gretsch-Talk, to the others I'm new. Howdy to everyone!

This is the best Telecaster discussion group on the planet. Congrats on your new instrument. Be advised, however, that not many here are satisfied to own only one! Welcome aboard.

Thanks! In case someone wonders about the cardboard box next to the amp I just took a couple of redundant pedals off my actual pedal board, velcroed them into a plank of wood and them stuffed the lot into that silly box, to keep it compact.

@ChicknPickn Indeed. I had a preliminary idea that I'd equip the Tele to come with a Bigsby, but now that I got that blonde one that looks so sweet as it is, I don't know anymore. Maybe another one, someday...

Welcome to TDPRI. Your new Telecaster through your 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone is a nod to producing the voice that made Telecasters a choice of '50s blues players. That's a combination made in heaven. Down the road, if you should so choose, after market pickups on the guitar or different speaker options for the amp, depending on what you're already using, might bring you even closer to the original. As a base starting point your Tele through your 5E3 clone is a fantastic starting point to build upon.. Congratulations!

Thanks all. That home made pedal box is a bit of joke of course, handy though, but the pedals are of good quality.

Here's my 5E3 clone amp and the bigger, but still quite minimalistic pedalboard. Nocturne Brain Preamp+delay, rat pedal and tremolo. And a tuner of course. The pedalboard itself is from Temple Audio and the case is an old 1970's suitcase that used to belong to my godfather. The 5E3 has an additional tube controlled 19" reverb tank in the bottom, so the whole enclosure is a bit oversized. These pics are from a cellar room that we use for band rehearsals.
