Hello all from cool Northeastern Ohio.

I'm Ben. I've lurked here for a few years now and you've all finally converted me to the Church of The Tele.

I'm mainly a prog metal/prog rock kind of guy, but I'll listen to most anything with a guitar, especially if I'm being told a story during. If you're a fan of The Dear Hunter, you're a friend to me.

My collection of gear has swelled the last few years since I got my first "big boy" job, so I'll throw up a picture rather than type a wall of text to list it all off. Don't mind the mess or the color of the room. My two-year-old picked her own colors for her "big girl room." 20210920_164543.jpg

Highlights include a vintage (70s?) Fender Bassman 4x10 combo, a recent Chinese Vox AC15, my American Ultra Tele (LOVE that Texas Tea finish), and the Burgundy Mist Baritone Strat partscaster.

I'm excited to finally start posting and looking forward to help with the million projects I find myself into these days.

Drop your best advice for parenting if you don't mind. I've got a daughter turning 2 very soon with another daughter due in March.

Hi! Nice collection you have there

Parenting? The first 20 years are the worst...

And having had to once live in a house with 2 teenage daughters, start learning how to duck...

You spend the first three years trying to get them to talk ... and the next 16 trying to get them to shut up.

But seriously folks ... I raised a pair of Eagle Scouts who turned out to be good young men. My best advice is to think of it this way: Kids are like dogs. If you leave 'em chained up in the backyard by themselves all day, they grow up to bark and bite and dig holes. Play with 'em and take 'em for walks and you'll have yourself a wonderful companion.

Way I did a lot of this was to get them involved in Scouts (which is now coed). They learn life skills and get a sense of achievement (no "participation trophies" - just earned ranks and merit badges). And they make friends and spend their weekends in the outdoors having REAL fun instead of in front of a screen or hanging out at a mall.

    Good Luck!

Thanks! I've started to get the dad reflexes, but it's just been for catching yogurt she throws when she's had enough haha

I appreciate the advice! I love a good video game from time to time but definitely agree that too many are getting too much screen time anymore. I didn't realize scouts was coed now! We live in the sticks so some skills will hopefully come naturally.

Appreciate it! Most of it has been relatively inexpensive. The old Bassman was given to me for free with the requirement that I fix it. Replaced tubes and cleaned a jack and it's perfect.

    Welcome to TDPRI -
My daughter chose the same color for her bedroom when she was a peanut - she's now in year 4 studying CompSci at Univ WA - Mrs Deeve and I expect she'll be out earning us in short order.
Parenting tips? - they are mostly BS, except for one I recall pre-k admin telling us: "talk is cheap - the kid's gonna copy what they see/hear at home..."
(no throwing plates, shouting, pouting or other Richard behavior - show affection and respect by pitching in w/ the cleaning after dinner or party, send thank you notes...)

Age 2 is an amazing time; don't blink.
    Peace - Deeve

    Northeast Ohio? I can relate!

My kids are a bit older - 21 and 25. Right now, only one of them is still "expensive". :D

What part of NE Ohio? I am south of Cleveland, west of Akron.

I'm not far from Medina, so it sounds like we might be pretty close!

Welcome to the posting side of the forum. We expect to hear more from you on the guitar playing and the children raising.
I have to case all my guitars when my four year old great-grandson comes over.
