It was a pretty chill weekend.

The wife is recovering from colon surgery (2 and half weeks ago), so we sort of putzed around.

Left the house only twice all weekend, once to visit her elderly father on Saturday, and yesterday we went to Mia's Cafe for brunch.
Yesterday was my 66th birthday, and I unboxed a prize that arrived days ago via an eBay purchase.

Been wanting this Hagstrom Metropolis S for many years, but could just not find one anywhere.
I don't guess they made too many of them.
But when the wife asked what I wanted for my birthday last week, I checked online, and sure enough, there was finally my unobtainable Hagstrom.

It arrived in brilliant condition, save a loose Tone Knob potentiometer, easily remedied.
Great, interesting single coil tones from this guitar.
Lightweight too, at 6 lbs, 2 ounces.

Love it.

Don't feel bad about needing to organize--I have two spare bedrooms, one cluttered with music gear, and one being converted to a tool and work area. Both currently just have a wide enough area to walk in.

I vacated a storage unit when my ex and her kids moved out, and all that stuff is mostly still where it landed. I did straighten up the carport a couple years ago, but I need to do it again this fall.

Thanks for the kind words!

Between 2018 and 2021, we bought a house, renovated and sold our condos from our single days, and took in a lot of items from my dad’s estate after he passed in 2018.

Lots of dumping off carloads and truckloads of stuff and fitting it in wherever we could. Garage and basement are both packed, but we are slowly and steadily digging out. Both working 40-50 hours per week at our day jobs and week need to squeeze in a little fun/relaxation.

I saw Lyle Lovett and his large band Saturday night, so it was a very fine weekend. Dean Parks was not with him as I hoped, but the electric player he had with him was excellent. Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel were with him. All the musicians an vocalists were top notch.
And on Friday, went to dinner with my Mom and nephew and tried a new place - discovered my new favorite Italian restaurant in town - the Osso Bucco was fantastic.

After a week that included a data base crash and a couple of super-tight shipping deadlines, I took care of some stuff around the house. Continued work in the garage to clear out and organize. We still have stuff packed in from when we moved 6 years ago, along with stuff from my dad’s estate. Need to reclaim my workbench.

Got up early on Sunday to go to the Beth Hillel summer rummage sale. Got some garden lattice for $4 a sheet and a teak garbage can for a buck.

Grilled up some thick pork chops on Friday and had the leftovers tonight. Ate outside and finishing up with some pineapple vino. Going to try to catch up on the TdF - we’re only on stage 12!

that storage area looks right, I moved in here over 30 years ago I had rooms for every thing , UNTIL....My parents passed, several friends moved and I inherited 5-6 pickup truck loads of Music gear so much so i had to send a Hammond organ to the dump ,I could not take it, no room , I have 2 rooms of storage wall to wall boxes and a garage that looks like your garage. one day it will all be taken care of, so I feel you. OBTW I had 2 containers full of refuse removed already more to go

An Epiphone Custom ES355 arrived Thursday from GC, spent the evening installing a GK3 pickup and changing strings on it. I used it on a gig Friday afternoon and found out there was no way to bond with the baseball bat neck on it, so Saturday morning I returned it to my local GC. Perusing the local FB marketplace ads, I saw a Gibson ES135 offered for sale. I had a Gibson 339 that has been causing me some back problems because of my seated playing condition and the smaller body size of the 339. Figuring the larger body size of the 135 would be more compatible with my playing posture, I responded. Upshot, the seller of the 135 was really wanting a 339, so we traded. Got home, and Mrs. 39 returned from her annual girl's trip to the Frio River. Fixed dinner, went up to watch the Rangers win their game with Atlanta and worked setting up the 135. Got the GK put on it and the action down considerably, and spent the rest of the game on the sofa watching and noodling on the 135. Sunday came and I played two songs for the worship service, using my avatar. Came home, had lunch and went upstairs to watch the Rangers complete their sweep of Atlanta, more noodling on the 135. I think I'll let my geetar tech do his magic to the 135 to get it playing like "buttah." Pics to follow.

Hey Dented, is this your first time doing ceiling fans? You may already know this, but it's really a good idea to put a junction box up that screws/ braces between the joists. They have them at Home Depot that you can actually mount through the existing junction box hole in the ceiling, after you remove the old junction box. If it's like mine were, they're just nailed sloppily to a joist. Or you may be lucky, and they did it right in your home. I installed a couple several years back, and they do not wobble at all.

Last time I put up a ceiling fan was about 40 years ago in my house in Mission Viejo. This house is less than 20yo. I'll check it out, thanks!

Oh! We got the dog a new toy. Just a little plush squirrel. She’s very happy with it. It’ll be an empty squirrel shaped sack soon.
I gave up buying plush or squeaky toys for my older two. Might try one on the new guy Buddy, he doesn't seem very destructive except for tearing my favorite fishing shirt a little. He's not currently staying in my room, because he swiped it from a basket of clean clothes sometime during his second night bunking with me.

Flash is an aggressive chewer...Ava is a veritable chipper. I bought those two a tug toy "made of genuine fire hose material!" Left alone with it for about five minutes, she gnawed several small holes in it

Well, Mrs Wrighty came out of hospital on Friday with a new knee in her right leg.she had the left one replaced around four years ago. A very painful recovery period is expected, though this time around seems a little less so than the last. So, my weekend was spent doing all of the chores we normally do between us and nursing. But, the end of her considerable knee pain is now in sight.

If you already have a ceiling fan up there and you're just replacing it, it may have the braced junction box. If you just have a light fixture, there's a good chance that the junction box is just nailed to a joist, and not secure enough for a ceiling fan.

If anything bad happened, I have no recollection of it.

I finally made myself sit down and carve a good bone nut for an inexpensive Paul copy that is a darned good guitar. Around 11 pm last night, it got the final tweek. For once, I didn't blow the job with one too-low slot.

So, life is good.

Harlo has a box of stuffies , he has had them for years , he will dig through them to pull out his 3 hedgehogs, the noisy lobster, and the iguana as they are his best squeaky toys and make the most irritating noise. he only destroyed a Brian from family guy stuffy the rest are still intact.

I bought a Line 6 Catalyst 200 recently and finally had a chance to play with it. Other than that, the wife and I enjoyed a movie night. Pretty low-key overall.

I had food poisoning last weekend, so...it wasn't the best time in my life. Fortunately, I had all the needed meds that I ordered from the Pharmacy B2B site, just in case. Still, I spent two days in bed. Hope the upcoming weekend will be better.
