I worked off nights Friday morning, and because of not sleeping well during the day last week I was exhausted. I slept most of Friday, kinda took it easy yesterday except for housework, Of course tending and playing briefly with my dogs is a given.

Today I tackled some yard work I've been putting off. I hired a young friend of my ex's daughter to do it, but he's put me off for three weeks and I finally caved and did the front, side, and fence line today.
If you want something done, you have to do it yourself.

After putting everything away, ditching my sweat soaked clothes, and getting a cool shower around noon, I decided to treat myself. I went to a matinee of Jurassic World Rebirth, and picked up food at a renowned local hamburger chain, plus a quart of beans to go with some BBQ I already had on hand.
The matinee was $4, and my entire adventure cost me about $25. 😄
Life is good, even alone, or especially alone lol.

What did you all have going?

I've been enjoying myself. Watching lots of baseball and racing. Dinner on the grill Friday and Saturday saving some electricity and house heat. Planning a couple ceiling fan installations, got the fans. New door stops installed, a few branches trimmed and a tree removal planned with my neighbor. Cleared out the dining room of boxes and stuff and now have to put my dining set together. I don't like they won't deliver it and set it up any more without paying a ton extra.

I'm in the closing days of our annual trip to Michigan. This involved several massive family get togethers, the wedding of a grand niece, a 2:30 a.m. trip to the ER when my wife had an alarming Hemorrhagic cystitis event, a memorial last night for my brother who passed away in March, a trip this morning to my parents grave to spread some ashes, a send off of his son and wife. Right now being lovingly mauled by a couple of Belgian Malinois, sipping a Polish Baltic Porter. Head home Wednesday, if I'm still alive. 🤪

After a week that included a data base crash and a couple of super-tight shipping deadlines, I took care of some stuff around the house. Continued work in the garage to clear out and organize. We still have stuff packed in from when we moved 6 years ago, along with stuff from my dad’s estate. Need to reclaim my workbench.

Got up early on Sunday to go to the Beth Hillel summer rummage sale. Got some garden lattice for $4 a sheet and a teak garbage can for a buck.

Grilled up some thick pork chops on Friday and had the leftovers tonight. Ate outside and finishing up with some pineapple vino. Going to try to catch up on the TdF - we’re only on stage 12!

Trip to ER with breathing problems. Weather / air quality got the best of me. Been under strict house arrest. Can't stop coughing. Even the dog is tired of listening to me cough. The drugs aren't helping. Forget Winnipeg. I'm going to the North Pole.

I heard Look Sharp! by Joe Jackson on the radio for the first time in many years, and developed a new level of admiration for it. I had never attempted to play it before, so I learned it with the help of a youtube video. Fun, simple song. Man, the drums on that recording are great.

Other than that, applied a surfactant to our lawn in anticipation of hotter days ahead -- unusually mild, so far, for Northern California. Hopefully, the sprinklers will be more effective going forward.

Replaced my home brew camera system with an off the shelf kind that ties to my garage door openers and other stuff... They had a crazy good deal on outdoor, powered cameras, so, I jumped on it. my house is like a british spy movie with all kinds of camera angles! There is a critter out back that I want to see what it is... and I put put up 8 at the ranch, so I can check things without driving. I'm going to put some at the cabin and retire my game cameras.

Sat was my wife's bday so we celebrated by hiking down by Ragged Point and then dinner in Monterey at the Sandbar Grill.

Today, took dog on a long walk, worked on songs for 5 hours... (off and on) watching the giants try to compete with the mets... not a bad weekend... the birthday was super fun.

Please take care, and get well soon. 🙏🏻
Breathing difficulty is terrifying. Went through that both times I've been diagnosed with That Not Discussed. I don't even know which time was worse!

Been to both ends of my state this weekend, and what a weekend it's been!

Yesterday, drove my rickety wagon to the coast, to see my old man and for the two of us to pick up a broken solid-state Leslie that me and my buddy bought ages ago and had to leave behind when he moved out of his in-law's guest house. Dad's as cool as ever. The Leslie is ruined but my buddy wants to rehouse it.

Then, today, the other side of the world, 500 miles round trip, to deliver the Leslie and trade some gear with my friend. He got a bass and some cash, I got a Peavey Session 400 Limited edition with the Black Widow speaker, and an old Line 6 DL4. I felt like I was robbing him, but he insisted the amp was useless to him due to its weight (it is heavy), and that he had moved beyond the DL4 and wanted to pay it forward.

Then he said hey, I have to go to [studio owned by a well-known indie label] and repair their Wurlitzer piano to pay off a debt.

So we went there and I watched him work absolute magic on a very very maltreated little Wurli EP, replacing a broken tine and doing fine surgery to extract the broken piece, which was causing some of the keys to click. But this poor guy! He frets and frets and says "oh f---!" every two seconds like he thinks he's going to get arrested if he messes it up. But he did perfect work and I got to record a video of him jamming out on the little thing to send to the studio manager.

They had every amp I've ever wanted in that place and a fair selection of the guitars I dream about too...

On the way back I hit the Guitar Center that's about halfway between there and home. I didn't find anything I needed but I was surprised to find that they know me by name there.

I got home and the amp sounds killer, the DL4 is a delight to use even if I'm not really a digital guy at heart, and my dog is still happy to see me even though I didn't have wet food for him. So really an incredible weekend, one for the books.

Hey Dented, is this your first time doing ceiling fans? You may already know this, but it's really a good idea to put a junction box up that screws/ braces between the joists. They have them at Home Depot that you can actually mount through the existing junction box hole in the ceiling, after you remove the old junction box. If it's like mine were, they're just nailed sloppily to a joist. Or you may be lucky, and they did it right in your home. I installed a couple several years back, and they do not wobble at all.

Finished stringing and doing a setup on a new PBass then did a little additional wiring on one of my Teles along with laying in some shielding paint in the control cavity to cut some hum.

Had some hand surgery on my left index finger last Thursday so playing is out for now until that heals. It's kinda frustrating too since I like to play every day.

Just got back from visiting my daughter and her family which includes my two granddaughters ages 8 and 5 and my two granddogs. Now it's time for some dinner.

I spent most of this weekend filling & moving sandbags in preparation for our expected repeat glacier flood. It's what took out our home last year. I'm only 62 but do believe I'm getting too old for this.

They get heavy after a while!

The water level in the basin up on the glacier is currently around 1,300 feet deep; if it doesn't begin draining from below (percolating through the ice to bedrock) & out via the Mendenhall River, it's expected to over-top the basin early August. Either way, it's all about the rate of release. So our weekend was mostly about sandbags & flood prep. And now I'm all about ibuprofen 💊
