Yes it’s an ’each to their own’ thing.

If someone wants to take the beautiful neck off their vintage guitar, and put it in the cupboard in case they want to sell it one day...then that’s cool. I’m sure people do that, especially if maintaining their investment is most important.

Like I mentioned though, I bought this guitar to play - so the neck in cupboard option does not work for me at all. The frets are about halfway done I think, but still play great. At the rate I play it though, I’m guessing a refret will be required in a few years anyway. Bringing that forward and enjoying frets I prefer now is what I am considering. I’ve asked the question on here and other forums before and there were plenty who had done the same.

I understand totally. I re-fretted my 1966 Es-345 with tall jumbos instead of the shorter jumbo type that was stock. Killer results. I do expect the questions when it goes up for sale, tough.....by me or whoever takes care of it when I am gone.

Too embarrassing to really confess to what I was thinking (more accurately NOT thinking)
Put new strings on today and all is well. It's been a bad week.
    Sorry for interrupting the blog.

I know we are talking about frets here, but that image shows a horrible neck-to-body fit!
