According to a news story that I just read, a lady posted on Reddit yesterday and asked for advice because her fiancé took the $8,000 that they had saved up for their honeymoon and used it to buy a gaming PC.

The advice that I would offer would be to reconsider marrying the guy.

I mean, he had $8,000 to spend and he bought a gaming PC? When I think of the guitars and/or amps that he could have purchased with that money, it just makes me sick. :D

You can't fix stupid. If they go on and get married, I wonder what he'll spend the kid's college fund on

Sounds lie a good decision to me.. high end gaming PC vs getting married.

I mean... in my mind its not even close.

Well done young man! Enjoy the freedom...

Statistically speaking, the computer will last longer than the marriage...

Gamers are an odd bunch. I'd say the bride-to-be won and found out just in time.

She should marry a man and not a boy.

$8k for a honeymoon that lasts a week or so sounds like a waste of money anyway. Which makes me wonder how much of Daddy’s money they were planning on wasting on a big fancy wedding.

Well, yeah for sure she shouldn't marry the guy! He made his priorities clear.

Beyond that - I could surely spend 8 grand on musical stuff, but I could also really use an 8k (or more) vacation - which for two people and a couple of weeks isn't all that extravagant. But where were they going to go this year? Most of the world is banning Americans from what I understand - most places have gotten the "thing we must pretend doesn't exist" under control except us.

Does this mean she won't be playing with his joy stick? Asking for a friend.

    I agree.
Obviously he considers the money to be spent on a Millennium toy. Well, I'd run if someone thought they wanted to marry me but an electronic fad toy and equipment were considered more important.
That's like any of us buying a CS Telecaster and saying "oh, sorry. No honeymoon"

She should marry him and then get it in the settlement.

    Two things I’d never do.
Get married (again), or buy a gaming PC.
I did the marriage thing three times, so I know how that works tor me.
I am utterly immune to the charms of a gaming PC.
I guess being older has it’s advantages!
