    Hi guys,
I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe iii and love the cleans. I would like to be able to get a Marshally sound as well. I've thought about getting a Blackstar HT dual pedal. Would this get me there?
    Is it even possible?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
    Cheers

Keeley Stahlhammer (features + $$$) will do it but that would be way overkill. Id check the JOYO line of amp modeling pedals. Dirt cheap.

Catalinbread's DirtyLittleSecret pretty much is a Marshall in a Box (cranked Marshall sound)

    Also Fulltone OCD (crunchy Marshall)

I like Marshall's own pedals. Been using the Bluesbreaker (JTM) and Guv'nor (JCM800) for over 15 years (both reissues).

I tried 16 MIAB pedals recently and to me, by far, the best are the Friedman BE OD and Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret. The BE OD was a little bit better able to be dialed in for a specific amp, whereas the DLS requires you to dial in the amp for it.

I like the cleans on the Hot Rod and I can't afford to have both.

Thanks for the great suggestions. Unfortunately living in Australia I don't have access to go and try these pedals. What's everyone's thoughts on the Blackstar HT dual pedal??

Catainbread DLS is great if it is in your budget. Joyo British is pretty good, for the price it is great!

So what do you really want? A distortion pedal or a Marshall emulating pedal?

Well that's tricky and the main difference between a tube amp's circuit and a pedal which is a more like a one trick pony especially at the lower price segment..

From my experience a good pedal can archieve one sound well - not the whole spectrum of sensitivity that a tube amp is capable of.. so you have to settle for a sound (which marshall - JCM, Plexi, JTM etc) and roughly od or distortion..

Or get a Marshall amp ;-)
