how to get a good americana or folk sound

    if you downtune to c or b with huge strings and put cranked pickups in there for heavy music that's less true.

    I really like the DR. the sound is very vintage - I compared it to an original 64 DR - and very useful in a band. In addition, an excellent pedal platform. Two music friends of mine bought one too, they were both impressed. In one of them, the DR continued to make a disturbing noise. Having good technicians unable to get them out, so eventually exchanged them for a Princeton '64. That disturbing noise turns out not to be exceptional ...
