How to add a volume pot to a pedal?

I have the recent Ibanez WH10v3 wah, and I love it, but set where I like it it also produces a decent volume boost, which is great when I want it but less so when I don't.

There's an individual/company that performs a popular-ish mod for this pedal that, among other things, replaces the true/buffered bypass switch with a volume pot.

The mod package changes more than I want to change in this pedal, and between the cost of the mod itself and the shipping it's a bit expensive for something I can, at least in theory, do myself (solder in a pot).

Any ideas/resources you guys can point me to re. adding a volume pot to a pedal that doesn't already have one? Also, I'd obviously be stuck with either buffered or true bypass since the mod gets rid of the switch. Would I be able to choose which is its "permanent" state, though?

Put a volume pedal in front of it!
But I suppose just a volume pot installed on the input or output jack would do it and be easy. Try it both ways with a plug in volume control jury rigged? Or you could leave it that way I suppose. However, if you daisy chain your pedals this is a problem, so get a switcher looper maybe? (The volume on your wah will control your volume even with the wah off, or wire it into the wah switch so it doesn't) If you replace the wah switch wouldn't you always be on cocked wah?
You can install this in an external box or right in the pedal wired to the pedal jack and the pot in a drilled hole on the side of the pedal:

Thanks! All my pedals are on a loop switcher (each on its own loop), but I'd prefer to have the pot as "part" of the effect (both physically and functionally). But this is a good start, thanks!
