Whenever I hear the song Walking on Air by King Crimson, I'm floored by the guitar tone in the intro.
It's the first 10 seconds of the song:

Does anyone know what guitar and amp Robert Fripp used in studio for the song?
Otherwise, could you take a guess at what it is?

No information for you. My guess would be that he's running a fairly ordinary electric guitar direct into the board (to get that really glassy, yet tight-bottom tone) with some post-recording, slight delay effects.

This 1986 article says that Fripp used (uses) a Les Paul and Roland JC120 for his clean (non-sustainer) tone and Roland Space Echo / Ibanez (DL-10?) Digital Delay.

Sounds to me like a Strat in the middle position through a Deluxe Reverb and a little delay, would be pretty close.

I'm betting the farm on some blackface Fender amp. My Princeton sounded EXACTLY like that.

Sounds like a Fender through a BF Deluxe or maybe a vibrolux to me with some reverb and delay. I like it.

There's a kind a faint warbling that's reminiscent of a Leslie with delay....

Does sound pretty tight to be a tube amp. If you listen to Jeff Healey much he has that same tight, processed tone and he goes right to the board. Some people hate that sound but i dig it

Sounds like a Roland Jazz Chorus to me, with the chorus off of course.
