How old were you when you first saw Jaws?

I don't remember my exact age but I would estimate about 7, as that is about the time I learned how to operate our VCR, and my grandfather bought it for me on VHS.

I have a 7-year-old at home now and can't imagine showing her Jaws. Quint's death scene alone gave me sleepless nights for years. Ironically, the movie did not deter me from swimming in the Atlantic every summer.

19...but even in 1975 I thought "Bruce" looked artificial (...the name given to the fake 25' robo-shark by the film crew).

Sadly I think today's 7 year olds probably see much worse on mainstream TV.

I'm over 60 and have yet to see Jaws, or the Exorcist, nor have I ever listened to Dark Side of the Moon.

I was about one day old when I sunk my jaws into my mommy's teat.

One of my favorite movies ever. Aside from being one of the greatest horror movies, it's just a remarkably well done film, IMO.

I saw Jaws when it was originally released in the theaters. I was 7.

When it came out, a while after I'd read the book, so about 16.

I was 13 or 14. Is there a particular reason you've never listened to Dark Side of the Moon or are you kidding?

Read the book when it first came out then saw the movie.
    Great, epic tale.

Unfortunately the senseless bloodlust and fear that it ignited was not good for one class of God's creatures. So very, very wrong happened in real life after that.

Wish neither book or movie was ever made.
    It was a travsety.

I must have been about 23.....at its release. I had read the book a year or two earlier. The book had a couple of sub-plots that didn't make the film, particularly the affair with the chief's wife and the Hooper guy, but all in all the movie was very good and suspenseful. I think generally it holds up today.

I was probably eight years old or so when the commercials for the movie were on TV. I never saw the movie in the theaters, but I heard about it. Between that and the commercials, I wouldn't get in my uncle's swimming pool that summer.

Probably about 7. It must have been on HBO. It did put me off swimming in the ocean, but otherwise no trauma.
I watch it every summer, and it never gets old. I love the mayor smoking in the hospital.
All that said, the thought of exposing my girlfriend's kids gives me pause even though I'm sure her 10 year old has seen worse at his father's house.
My parents were on Martha's Vineyard during filming. My mom was pregnant with me. They passed up a chance to be extras. I will never forgive them for that.

Saw it when it first came out. So, 1975 and I would have been 28.

In 1975, I was 9. I remember my cousins (who around the same age) seeing it, but my parents would never have allowed it. I don't think I ever watched it until many years later, when I caught it on TV.

In other news, I swam with some sharks this weekend. We did a snorkel trip to Looe Key, in the Florida Keys. There were a few nurse sharks and reef sharks. It was very cool. But it wasn't as cool as the pair of 300+ lb groupers that were swimming around.

Whenever it came out on Home Box Office. We went to the neighbors who had cable. I'm going to guess 1980 which would have made me 9 or 10. Never mind being scared to go in the water, I was scared to go to bed that night!!!

If I remember rightly whilst many of my mates would sit around together listening to Pink Floyd, Genesis or Richie Blackmore, whilst drinking coffee and smoking roll ups, the girls I liked were into dancing, Bowie, Rod & the Faces, Hall & Oates, and the Average White Band.

I cant remember how old I was but I saw it around four years after release as that's about the time they would first air it on free tv. I went to see Jaws 3 in the cinema in 3d with my 3d cut out glasses they had in the news paper. The first Jaws was the best of the three.

The Dark Side of the moon is on rotation in my cars six stack cd player and has been for years.

I know, but it's been around 46 years... Surely you can find the time. I recommend headphones, wine and maybe a little green.

I was 18, and just out of high school.
I saw it with my sweet, beautiful girlfriend.
I think it was about a fish.
