How often do you go out to eat, including fast food etc?

How often do you pay someone else to prepare your food? (eat in, take out, fast food etc)

We usually get take out on Friday evening. We have to be careful and plan Saturday evening's meal or we end up going out for that as well.

We used to eat out twice a week or more. Last year we did the same as the OP and cut some costs with a goal to semi-retire (I.e., work a lot less) in a few years. So now we have a budget for eating out and we try to stick to it. And more importantly I have a budget for toys (guitars, bikes etc) and so far I’ve been sticking to that (about 10 months to this new budgeting approach).

Retired chef and the wife and I love comfort food. Short ribs in wine sauce over pasta.

Home cooking is the best around my place and usually better than most places we dine.

Wow, at this point of the poll, nearly a third eat out at least weekly, and another 15% either 1) eat out as much as in, or 2) eat out even more than they prepare their own food. So almost half of us eat out pretty regularly.

That's kind of surprising to me. I'm sure for a lot of us, it's as much a social thing as the food itself.

A couple of times a year. Eating out is one of the Biggest wastes of money. Anyone can learn to cook and you can make a couple of dishes on the weekend if you’re so busy you can’t cook during the week.

We eat out for lunch almost every day, and then we usually eat out for dinner 1 to 2 times per week. Almost never fast food though, there are too many great options around here that don't cost much more. Mrs MF and I are good cooks, but sometimes it is easier.

We go out a fair amount. The Woman always wants to try "someplace new," I like to go where I know I'm gonna like the food. Unfortunately for me "someplace new" usually involves a trip into the city (Charlotte) which I dislike. However, there are some good eats there, so it evens out. For me, there are plenty of good places without going to Uptown.

I have a Wendy's lunch maybe once a month while going to Home Depot or Lowes. We live rural so anything eat wise is 45 minutes away. Wifey is a good cook anyways...

Back before working from home, I had a nice fast food lunch routine. I had a bunch of under 500 calorie, with around 20 grams of protein, fast food lunches I could grab. I have gained weight from getting out of that routine. None of the fast food places are within walking distance. Oh well, excuses, excuses, I just gotta get back to eating better again.

I don't see it as a waste of money if I'm eating food I couldn't possibly make at home.
