You know...that inquiring minds thing. :)

I have. There's been a number of ships named the USS Princeton, though. (the Navy often reuses the names of previously decommissioned ships)

As a contractor, I've worked on the latest one, CG-59. I've been working on ships and subs for almost 40 years now, both Navy and Coast Guard.

No hero here. Permanent shore duty stationed in Puerto Rico. Started a band, got relieved of all military duties and played the military clubs all around the island for the duration.

1969. Enlisted Mens Club, Fort Allen Naval Communications Station, Ponce Puerto Rico.

    Howdy....

This is the one I was on....after they modified to an LPH-5 we left Long Beach harbor 2/14/66:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Princeton_(CV-37)

We did two Ops (via chopper) from that flight deck then offloaded in Chu Lai on May 8.

    Thanks for responding....

(EDIT: lots of cool pics showing up)

Yeah, that was before my time. I joined the Delayed Entry Program in January of '78, and went to Boot Camp in October. All the carriers I've been on had an angled deck.
