Just thinkin' about it tonite, I've given three of telecasters, three L6s's, one Gibby LP, and one Gibby ES-135 away.

I know the one L6s and Lester are being played lots, and that makes me happy. Can't say much for the others, I just don't know how much their actually getting used. One L6s was a birthday present, and lots of folks signed it before it was handed over.

Curious to see how many other folks have bestowed to folks...

Back in the early '90's, I gave 2 guitars to two employees - both guitars were 'worn out' in need of TLC/ repair, but neither worth the $$ it would take.

My 1974 Nagoya N-28 ( cheap D-28 copy loved this guitar).

My 1982 Electra Phoenix ( a Strat.copy with SG horns!)

Both employees showed a little interest in playing and had really crappy guitars, so I figured what the heck

I've donated guitars to both family reunion auctions and custom built guitars for a Masonic charity for about 5 years.
I quit doing that after realizing nobody appreciated it.

I have loaned several guitars to people who never gave them back. Never loan a guitar that it would break your heart to lose.

Just one ... a Triple Tele to a gigging musician friend who’d had his backup stolen ...

One....and he was not a friend but a bandmate who turned out to be a jerk. He immediately sold it. It was a Charvel Model 1 from the 1980's.

But, a friend of mine gave me a Heritage H-140 a couple of years ago. That was nice!

I gave a 2011 Melody Maker SG to my cousin's wife
I gave a Blacktop Jazzmaster to a coworker
I gave a Yammie Classical to a cousin (different cousin)
I gave a Godin LP SP90 to a friend of my son
I have donated about another half-dozen guitars to the local school district. I'd rather give them away than deal with the mess of online or CL selling...

Five, a nice set of Slingerlands, 4 amps, an electric piano and a great upright piano too. I sold my B3 and Leslie to a friend for what he could afford because he'd always wanted one. He turned around and sold it for a nice profit. Such is life.

I only need one acoustic guitar so if I upgrade to a better one I sometimes give away the one I already have.

    Twice.

A few years ago I gave a Les Paul to the daughter of a good friend of mine. It was a birthday gift. She had been playing for about a year and taking lessons.

Soon after I gave her the guitar she quit playing. It turned out she was only taking lessons because she had a crush on her guitar teacher. Uggh!

I have bought two as presents for others...does that count? I gave away a banjo last week too.

Yah, I gave a niece my old Wasburn neck-thru bass...she pawned it.

Two guitars (strat and tele) to nephews and donated 5 Seagull S6's to the VA's PTSD rehab program where they teach vets how to play as a therapy.

25-30.. nothing fancy, mostly kids, its easier than dealing w/ CL, low ball shop owners, etc.
I require they write a short paper as to why/ where, I set them up and off they go. Works pretty well.

Two, I didn't give them away but rather purchased them for a couple of friends.
Both acoustics, one epi dreadnought and one Gretsch Jim Dandy.
I'd like to get myself a Jim Dandy one day.
