Since 2012. A mere 8 years. My favorite website by far. I spend more time here than anywhere else when I am on line.

I joined March of ‘03. I’d never used a computer before. Not once in my life. My wife got one for the house and was trying to get me interested in using it. So she showed me Google and said “type in whatever you want and it will find all the information about it”. So I typed in telecaster, and somewhere in the results this forum came up. So I joined. And here I am.

I joined a few other guitar forums over the years, but nothing ever stuck. This is the only only one I’m interested in. I’m not a member of any other (non-music) forums, either. And I haven’t really used a computer since then. Don’t see a need. My phone does everything.

10 years...you think I’d have bought another Tele by now, but I’m still in love with my old one.

I joined in 2009 after someone told me I could get instructions for building a tele here. Boy howdy.

Almost everything I know about music and guitars, I learned here. I'm grateful that you all put up with me.

This is still my only social medium.

you're not referring to Don Mare, are you? He made it a religion to recreate the sound of Roy B, and went on to produce some very highly-regarded pickups. And he still does:

I've been around since time immemorial, as the TDPRI calendar doesn't go that far back ... I date back to early Noam days, through the Paul era, and now into the present anthropocene.

Here's a test for you long-timers... Who else here remembers "Ol' Fuzzy" and his "cornfuser" posts??

you should be called Jake OLD dog! I agree, though - I was on a few other music forums way back when, FDP and the like. But I dropped out, they just weren't right for me. I've been here so long I hardly ever talk about guitars, or even amps anymore. I just stop in to shoot the breeze on the Bad Dog.

These days everything's moving too fast. Everyone lives in a social-media bubble filled with people who think the same way as the user does. The user only hears from people who support his/her opinions.

That never happens on the Bad Dog! It's like stopping in at the pub on the way home, having some good-natured disagreements and leaving to go home with the feeling that you have been hanging out with some good friends.

Since 1998 - before the infamous '03 server crash. Power plant spring overhaul work hours delayed my re-signing up by a couple months.

Was in my late 40's then...early 70's now.

And no more work hours to delay me if it happens again! :D

I’m just shy of 8 years as a member.

“Why would I want to join a club that would have me as a member?”:D

I had aspirations of building a 1952 Telecaster, which never came to fruition (yet). During my research, I was constantly directed to this forum, so I joined.

At least I have the Ron Kirn templates!

    Now I wish I wouldn’t have joined. I’d be a much better guitar player.

I had been a lurker for many years before signing on officially in 2011. My lurking continued until my first post in early 2019.
Always loved guitars and music, just never had much of interest to say. :)

Joined in 2009, took a long break and really just started posting a lot in the last year or two.

I haven’t always had a Tele, but it took me that long to realize there’s a lot more to this forum than just Teles. Lots of really intelligent people on here who can carry a conversation without being smug or aggressive like many other forums I’ve been a part of. Lots of great topics on a wide array of subjects.

I don't go back to the Noam Pikelny days, but I joined sometime just after the turn of the century. And re-joined in 2003 like everyone else.

I joined in 2006 when I traded for my first tele.
I got a Muddy Waters Telecaster in exchange for a Wendler.

    b.jpg

I had never played a tele more than
    the usual try-outs at GC.
The MW is a heck of a nice guitar and
I would like to have another one.
