In random locations all around the house. My wife loves that….
I was all for hanging or stands, then got a on a 'preservation' kick, and wanted everything protected. Over time, I found I wasn't playing as much as I'd like, and got rusty and forgetful. I've since become of the mind that "out of sight is out of mind", and it is true! I'd uncase one of my guitars and fall in love with it all over again, or else find something that needed tweaking. Now they are all out on stands where they can be seen and picked up and played on a whim. Spread out over two rooms, the most-played are in the living room, the others here in my computer room. They get rotated as demand calls for. Currently it's my Tele Micawbre clone and my '59 spec Les Paul, out there for all to appreciate. I can hear the sigh from my wife as I type this.
Hey, at least they aren't eye-sores!!
That may apply in some cases. For me I have 46 guitars. Usually I have 3 to 5 out at a time that I am playing currently on stands and spaced in a 7 space rack. After a couple of days I will put those away and pull out 3 or 4 more and play those. That way all my guitars get played regularly. I play guitar at least 3 hours everyday and keyboard a half hour a day. Bass, I only play once in a blue moon.
Hangers and racks. Where I can admire them and grab one when I feel like it. Life's too short.
When @Weaselcoon said he has em lying against other gear this is the first thing I thought of
Have a glarry 7 slot on the way. Excited.
Been mostly leaning guitars on couches for 25 years.
The tele, p bass, and beater acoustic are on stands within easy reach. The all solid acoustic is in its case, humidified.
There should definitely be an “all of the above answer”.
Half my time all my guitars are stored in cases when I’m away for work. Otherwise I like to be able to look at my favourites from my desk in home office, get inspired to grab one for an hour and zone out
While the rest hang out (pun intended) in the guest room my wife has let me gradually take over.
close at hand, safe and out of my way on hangers, I have several 5 & 7 unit guitars stands that take up too much realestate so on the wall with them!, which reminds me a good dusting is in order
I couldn't find the photos, but I posted this earlier in the year.
The '73 Deluxe and the '76 Custom in their cases under my bed; the Squier and the Epi, within easy reach on a table in my room.
For my Tele I keep it stored on a D&A Guitar Gear Starfish+ Active Guitar Stand and my acoustic on the wall.
All of the above.
I live in a tiny one room apartment, and I don't have room for stands or cases, so mine all reside in gig bags stacked vertically against a wall 3 or 4 deep.
Most of them are kept in a big wooden cabinet. The overflow is in cases scattered around the room. The exception is an acoustic bass that hangs on the wall.
I currently have 14, I usually have 2 out on a-frame stands for playing/noodling. I rotate them frequently. I have only one on a wall hanger, and it's just for looks. It's a Squire Bullet Telecaster, it's not much as a player, but I fell in love with the Red Metalflake finish...it's gorgeous! The others, that aren't currently being played are in their cases. I really hate a dusty guitar, and the pots really hate the dust too!
I have 3 wall hangers and I rotate the guitars that hang there.
The rest live in their hard cases under the bed guarded by a ferocious beast
The 3 that get played the most are hanging on the wall, the others are in cases.
I designed and built this "floating" hanger for my acoustic:
I got some guitars in bags and 3 auto-locking wall hangers displaying guitars I built:
