Buddy asked a strange question so I wondered if there is a consensus.
    How do you pronounce "Epiphone"?
DOes it rhyme with "telephone" or "epiphany"?

I've always heard it with the short e at the beginning.

When I hear people pronounce it like "epiphany" I want to punch them in the eye socket. Then I want to apologize, buy them a beer, and explain the correct pronunciation.

Heh, my Gibson rep (I used to be a Gibson dealer) called them "Epiphanies with the mother-of-toilet-seat inlays."

That's awesome. I had a guy when I worked with Gibson (Vic Russlavidge) who said similar things; never disparaging Epiphone, but giving jabs here and there.

Rhymes with Jeep a phone...technically...otherwise there would be two p's after the E.

I always called it 'Tak-a-mine', but I have since been corrected to 'Take-a-meenie'.

It's an Italian response to someone who says I left my guitar at home. Here, you canna take a mine. ;)

Rhymes with "take a knee". It's the official guitar of the NFL. :D

I am a big Epiphone fan and own three, but my best friend pronounces it, "ep-e-phone-ee".

Yup, it hurts every once in awhile.

We may never know the proper pronunciation of Takamine. I'll bet the owners of the company don't even agree. :D
