Im really curious after reading/posting on the "Show Us Your Pedalboard " thread and seeing some magnificent toys lined up and ready for the dance

how do most of you set up your effects chain?
Do you use a specific order of events?
are you running the signal chain as a daisy chain ( Instrument- efx-efx-efx-efx- amp) series
or do you split thr guitar signal to run multiple efx chains? parallel

I split my guitar signal Parallel (in A mode ) to 5 separate efx devices ( with foot switch On/Off for each split)and blend the signals with a 16 chanel mixer / with 4 efx sends and returns - I also have pure guitar out that I can run to my tube amps or an out from the Tube driver to run to an amp
and in (B mode ) to a specific pedal for leads patch with a crunch .

also what is the pedal chain you use ( guitar-tuner-wha-dirt-distortion-reverb-delay-etc)

I think this could give some of our members a different perspective on how to arrange things.

    I go standard..

So, guitar. Tuner. Fuzz. Wah, envelope filters, harmoniser, overdrive, distortion, compression, chorus, phaser, flanger, analog delay, digital delay.

All to do with how the sound shapes.

My small board the Wah goes first, only because I can't fit it on the board.

I'm now trying to incorporate an acoustic simulator and a looper. The looper will go at the end.

Only thing different about mine is my OD and Distortion are in the Boss NS-2 loop (send and return) and the output of the NS-2 goes to the Phaser.

    pedalboard June 2017.jpg

    Signal Chain:

    Guitar > patchbay > Compressor > Tuner > Boss LS-2

In Loop of LS-2 EQ >DS-1

    LS-2 output > Splitter box

Splitter box output 1 > Chorus > Tremolo > Echo > Patchbay > Clean Amp

Splitter box output 2 > Crunch amp.

It's a conventional order of effects.

The compressor is always on and the tuner is my "kill switch" too.

The LS-2 brings in a lead sound, I have made it slightly louder and added in the DS-1 with EQ pushing the mids.

The Splitter Box arrangement is so the blended DS-1 pushes both amps but the modulations only go to the clean amp, a dry/wet mix.

I had posted these pics here alot so I didnt repost them I just redesigned the pedal board on the week end , I made a lot of my own swithcing pedals

notice that there is only one snake to the back of the rack
but this is so easy to use I can pull out a million sounds like right now the board does not weigh that much but the rack is about 125 lbs ( I had this in a road case when I gigged now I have it in a studio rack

Yeah, sometimes I leave all my pedals at home (a.k.a. going commando) just to annoy and confuse the folks I'm playing with.

I'm pretty new to having a bunch of effects (and not great at changing things on the fly yet). I'm finding that I like: Fuzz phaser comp OD distortion delay tuner. Can't decide if I like volume pedal in front (cleans up the dirt pedals when turned down) or in the back (more consistent tone, controls delay). Trem is on the amp. I hated phasers until I tried it early in the chain before the dirt pedals, where it just seems much more organic. Pedals are fun! I'm a convert.

    Some nice stuff here guys,
for my set up I go :
guitar -Wha-switcher(A 1) distortion (set to clean) - Mixer
    (A 2) ART Sgx-2000 - Mixer
    (A 3) Pod Pro - Mixer
(A 4) Korg tuner - Vamp - Mixer ( also a split to the Tube driver with an out put to the front of the rack to feed to my amps)
    (B-1) Zoom 707 -mixer
the mixer has 4 efx sends # 1 reverb pedal shared with clean set preamp
    # 2 to a pair of DDLs with floor switched bypass pedals
    # 3 to an ART multiverb
    # 4 not used
out put from the mixer goes to meter bridge (I built) then to an aural exciter then Crown DC 300 A power amp to 2 cabs I made with 1 celestion and 1 eminence each
the switcher has an out put where I can feed a straight signal directly to a guitar amp by passing the rack entirely (guitar -wha- amp)

the Roland Gr55 is fed into the mixer and its straight guitar signal goes through the above chain

    simple to use and operate

I like to hear the guitar before I mess up the signal and all the guitars sound like they are from another planet
before the pedal chain a strat sounds like a strat , after the pedal chain a strat can sound like a NOT-STRAT.

I've posted this before but it's simple and keeps my Tele sounding like a Tele and my Deluxe sounding like a Deluxe ( or whatever I'm using).

The compressor is used as a boost/sustain for solos so that's the only time it's on, the BB is used when more OD is needed than my amp is set for, the Carbon Copy is always on for a touch of a verby feel and that's it.

Short chain, only two pedals that actually get clicked off and on as I play. Covers everything I need and so much simpler than what I used to do.

I have always used a Boss LS-2 to make a loop for leads, so that I only need to stomp that pedal during songs. Other than that my boards have been very conventional, but my only modulation is tremolo. However, I am presently simplifying and reducing my main board and eliminating the LS-2, basically depending on boost for my leads. I am presently building the board this week, so pics coming soon to our monster pedalboard thread.

I put dirt at the front, modulation at the the end, and other stuff in between. Generally speaking, anyhow; you gotta play with your chain to see what works best for you.
