As part of my Squier Tele Custom II revamp, I'm replacing all the hardware with black versions. I've got a bridge that appears identical to the original, but in black. The finish appears to be barely conductive; certainly not enough that I'd count on it as is for string grounding. So where do I remove some finish? Obviously I can take a bit off the bottom for the ground wire, but I need continuity between the strings and the bridge. One possibility is the slots in the saddles; another is in the base, where the strings contact it on the way through the body. Or is there another way?

Is this an anodised finish, it often has an insulating top layer. Test with meter.
Saddle slots, scrape a little finish away under the strings, they will take it of by themselves eventually any way. Also where the saddle screws contact the bridge plate, again this would probably wear off anyway. None of this should be visible. Also the pickup back plates needs grounding independently.

I ended up scraping some finish off the bottom for the ground wire (which I knew I would do) and on the string-through holes for string contact. Worked great.
