How did I NOT know about the Offset Teles?

You say "offset Telecaster", and my Parker P-36 says, "Hold my beer."

But in all seriousness, I would snap up an offset Tele in a heartbeat. Loved the ergonomics and neck on a Squier Jaguar, just couldn't bond with the brittle tone.

Someone has a video on YT and the title is something like "Was this guitar so ugly that the company had to close?" and I have to argue that it's so far from ugly I can't understand why someone thinks it is. I think Adrian Belew is still playing his.

I bought this MIJ version new around 2018. The pickups were underwhelming (that’s being kind). I ended up replacing them with a Lollar J Street & P90 which was an attitude transplant in the best way.

But the attention to the neck & the fretwork seem the equal to many MIAs I've been exposed to. Whomever worked on it seemed to care about what they were doing. Enjoy your new guitar!

I like the painted ones, but when I saw the Mahogany version, I was a goner. The Squire I found in Okoume was one of the first two Offsets I saw and since I really didn't need a pink guitar, I played the one I bought. It's really a well-made guitar- I did some setup on some of the early Squires and they just felt like cheap instruments but this sustains at least as well as my Strat Plus, the intonation above the 12th fret is better and it has no dead spots anywhere on the neck.

As I posted before, the tuners were absolute crap, so I put the Fender locking version on- it's not that I had to have locking tuners because I don't really care about that, but I wanted tuners that would stay put and have a fine gear ratio. However, after 25+ years with the LSR tuners on the Strat, I find that I really don't like the typical 'bean' knobs, so I ordered the HipShot Industrial knobs- they'll be here soon.

To be clear, I'm putting the knobs on the Fender tuners. I sold the Strat Plus to a music store and the LSR tuners were on that when I bought it- When I found that I hated the tuners on the Squire, I started looking for another set of LSR but they're not common. When I saw the knobs separately, I decided to try them and as long as they fit properly, I seriously doubt I'll send them back- tuning with a round knob is really easy and using a string winder with the usual tuners is a PITA because it always hits the ones next to the one being wound. I used to have a little Peavey string winder, but I can't find it- it was much shorter and didn't hit the other knobs and I already have too many odd tools to want to buy one that works with a cordless driver.

I don't find the Jazzcaster shape very suited to the squared off accoutrements of the Tele. Too much empty space behind the bridge for me. IMHO a Mustang body would be a fresh take on the offset Tele.

What's an offset Tele? I just have a reg'ler one.

Heh heh heh

That's probably one of the most sensibly configured guitars I have seen- I never used the Strat bridge pickup a lot, but I probably would have if it had been a Tele pickup and I kind of miss some of the Strat sound. Body shape & comfort aren't a problem, but being able to get that sound would be great.

Dangit! Now I want a Strat again!
