"Do you like bacon?" is a "what" question.
Fortunately, "bacon" is the universal answer to all of life's questions.
Who doesn't like bacon? You? Good. More for me.
When do we like bacon? Now, and always.
Where's the bacon? Here! Is that all?
    Why bacon? Why not?

    What about;

    "Is there...?"
    "Can you...?"
    "Does it...?"

Rick Beato, musician, producer and musical theory lecturer ( see Youtube), says that the Vietnamese have the highest rate of perfect pitch as there are six ways to pronounce Ma, one meaning mother, and 5 other words. So Vietnamese kids learn inflection and tone right from their first word.
We only have 26 letters, some cultures less, some many more. The Chinese have several thousand words in common usage and most with differing inflections.
We have a lot of Vietnamese here as we were a country that accepted them from other Asian countries after their situation in the 70s. They are generally very smart and I always liked teaching them as they are respectful of learning and are successful newcomers to Australia.
Maybe I should eat more Vietnamese food and get smarter- their food is better than any Asian foods and I've been to most Asian countries and love the foods.

"How much" and "how many" is not the same as "how", and most languages have a separate word for that.

So, you think I can't ask a question without one of the six?

yesterday was 'free day' at the monterey aquarium if you are a resident... so, we went. I have been many many times. I think we have a membership, I know we send them money, but whatever...

It wasn't super busy and so we could really take our time and look... All I could see were mid century aircraft in all the fish. All of them looked like mid century aircraft... well, except the ones who didn't... they looked like patterns from a spirograph....

When one of those six words won't get my point across, I typically add in one of George Carlin's seven words.

    That'll get Grandma's attention.

    Yes.

Who, what, when, where, why, which, how. 6 W's and an H. All are interrogatives, "which" being an interrogative determiner. Yes, it can be considered the deterministic version of "what", as in "what one do you chose?" but I think it is time we let it stand with the rest of the interrogatives.

I have a question: If there are 170,000 words, and we only use 30,000, what are the other 140,000 words that nobody uses?

In the same way the 'how come' means 'why, 'how much' and 'how many' are rephrasings of 'what amount' and ...they are 'what' questions.

My OP was a bit poorly written I think...

What I meant was that there are only six 'orientations' toward questioning....

    Beer? asks 'what?'
    Her? asks 'who?'
Sick? asks 'how?' or perhaps 'what?'

....and so on with your other examples. That's what I was getting at and stated poorly.

You probably don't use 30,000 unless you're an academician. Probably only a couple thousand.
