I am a total noob at this thing called Stratocaster, although I have to say that I know something about Telecasters. I am about to buy a used strat from a private party and would like to know how you can tell the difference between the Squier Standard, Squier Affinity and Squier Bullet strats. Please let your collective hive mind enlighten this soul.

If i remember correctly, it's written on the headstock, "Affinity series" or "Standard series"
On Affinity series, it's only written as "STRAT" or "TELE"
Standard series are using big bold letters (Fender '70s style)

+1 on the headstock decals. I have no experience with Bullet models, so I'm no help there.

I played a bunch of new ones about five years ago helping my son pick one out. FWIW, the fret work on the Standards that I played was consistently much better than the fret work on the Affinity models. Worth the $ difference to me to step up. Of course, generalities make no difference when you evaluate one specific instrument.

okey dokey, thanks guys!!!

I actually went to a local GC and took a look at each of the Squier models. It's written on the headstock, allright: Standard, Affinity and I believe Bullet as well.

I only had an half hour during my lunch break, so I couldn't spend quality time with any of them. However, I was impressed with the fit and quality of the new Squiers. But, then again, I am easily impressed.
